Aloha Friends!
Another Pinterest Finds segment. I love the feel of soft vintage shirts and when I saw this DIY on Pinterest I immediately pinned it hoping to try it out one day. Well today is the day :) LoL --- Watch the video to see the result and what I thought of this simple DIY project.

I love the feel of vintage shirts. Thick, heavy. I hate modern regular cotton t-shirts. Too soft. I like the stiff, rough feel.

Vintage feels soft and light not heavy 🤦♂️

@@fiction1249 but vintage clothing always uses heavy weight fabric, and has nice boxy oversize cut. Whereas nowdays clothing fabric isn't that sturdy unless you paid more.

@@DylanHutto Thanks man ill try it. I had Fruit of the loom with iron maiden print tshirt before and it was soooo gooood. Rough, stiff, thick and sturdy. And i am on search for such shirt now. I bought Gildan Heavy cotton but it isn't as near as mentioned before so i am having best hopes for S2000

@@thevsis- Oh yeah my hopes were pretty low since I have a "Heavy Cotton" Gildan shirt and it's thin as hell, but the S200's are awesome, they're what I want to print my band shirts on
Try mixing in baking soda to the salt. The baking soda with give it that alkaline wash that will help break down the coating in the fiber. Those coatings are what the manufactures add to help preserve that stiff crisp feeling. But we dont like stiff and crip. Then depending if you can afford to have the shirt shrink a bit, set the dryer to hot.

What a neat idea! Thanks for sharing. I have some "boys" who would love this.
I am learning so much from you Diane it will be especially useful on my little grandchild's tops. She hates to be irritated around her neck from stiff clothes and gives us a time !Mahalo, dear friend.
Yeah nice video, better then the other stuff I've seen on here. mahalo from Florida.
if you are here looking to fade black shirts: Go over your black shirt with low grit sandpaper like 200 grit, everywhere. then put your shirt in a pot or container and add 6 cups of boiling or very hot water then add 3/4 cup of bleach and 1/4 cup of salt. watch your shirt. pull it at desired look. 7 minutes is usually right for me. wash regularly on hot, it will come out looking faded but it will feel stiff. if you want it to be soft throw it back in your container with hot water and epsom salt for about a half hour and let it hang dry. ba bang your welcome

these ratios dont work fyi people reading this. no idea why i thought the t would do anything except turn orange. now am redying a bleached black t shirt with black dye
Now after you do that to your heavy cottoned shirt which now is soft, is it now and still safe to stretch to make it more looser to give that more baggy look?
Awesome mom 😎

Such a neat little trick . Who doesn't like soft ?? Lol. As always thank you 💕
I read that there’s no need to wait so long, after 7 minutes it’s absorbed all it’s going to. Then when you fry it, you take it out of the dryer before it’s fully dry and let it air dry
would Hanging your t-shirt in sun light work?i have t-shirt with Red painted, and i dont like the intense RED colour print+i also like old grey colour instead of new/black

That’s a beautiful t shirt the Hawaiian one
nice😍😍
does it make cause the shirt to feel vintage permenantly? or just for that wash cycle?
Wash in hot water only, then dry on high heat. Do it a couple times until satisfied
Nice. Color looks faded.
I think you're supposed to use sea salt not regular salt
