That's a good idea to use singles, but I really would suggest another hook choice. First, the shape. Why not use specially designed for spinners and spoons, like Owner S-31 or S-61? They have a big eye it which split ring goes much better than this, and are curved in a different way themselves. To keep things less bulky, personally, I use split rings #1 of #2 on bigger Foxes.

@@thomascooper6679 I forgot to mention I bend the eye backwards a bit as they tend to stay right behind the lure in a more 'tuned' manner than when running a straight hook which will wobble back and forth and may miss half of the strikes (from trout). I haven't found the perfect hook for me yet but this works well and I bend them back with 2 pliers just below the eye. I loved the octopus hooks also but finding large eye-holes and small hooks at a price I like made me start bending my own like when I used to tie certain flies.

@@thomascooper6679 What I started out doing was finding a large eyed hook that was about the same size or slightly smaller than the treble hook and went from there. I primarily fish for trout and small salmon in the smaller rivers. I've tried different lengths and found that the bend was a big key as well as the split-ring size. If it "looks similar to the treble set up" it's likely going to work and it has. In all honesty, we're being nit picky as an hook stuck to the back of a spinner will work. IMHO a split ring and bent back eye of similar size to the treble works best here in New England and worked amazingly well in Idaho also. Cheers!

where is the barrel swivel so they dont twist the lure out of their mouth while fighting. Lure to splitring, splitring to barrel swivel, barrel swivel to siwash. I do this to all of my salmon & steelhead spinners & spoons. Spoons get a splitring & barrel swivel in front as well. As to barrel swivel/splitring being to bulky - its not - most ppl use oversized splitrings, barrel swivels & hk lengths. hooklength - order shorter siwash. Choose the barrel swivel thats 10 - 20 lb rating above line you use (this is a lot smaller than most ppl choose by eye). with splitring you may need to go bigger than lb test rating you need so you can feed it onto spoon. Just use smallest splitring big enough so spoon or spinner moves freely this will more than surpass your line rating. Good subject for a video I just swapped out all my spinners & spoons & reordered new splitrings & barrel swivels (Spro are the best I think).
