How To Strum & Sing - Dream A Little Dream of Me! Course Day 1 of 4

Today we begin a new course that will teach you how to strum and sing at the same time. It can be very overwhelming to try to play a song you enjoy, keep the strumming hand steady, AND add the singing on top of that.
In this video (day 1 of 4) we will just learn line 1 of the song Dream A Little Dream of Me. We will take a VERY SLOW approach so that I can show you how to break down ANY SONG.
PLEASE pay very close attention to the alignment of chords and lyrics. This is the most crucial part of learning how to strum and sing. If you can align the strum with the lyrics, you've done the most challenging part!

I’ve been working on your 15 songs in 30 days. I seem to lose the rhythm of the strum when I start sing the lyrics. Uku is my first musical instrument. Thank you for sharing your amazing teaching skills on youtube. I will admit nearly every time you say “ look up look up” you’re talking to me.

Hello, I like the repetitive instruction, it is closer to how a song is really learned. Watching other videos that zip through the song give a unrealistic expectation when learning.

This will be really useful........I’ve learnt to do it but it’s taken some perseverance!!! I’m ok if the strumming is a steady beat but as soon as it’s more complicated than that I struggle to keep the rhythm while singing!!! 👍

I am loving all your lessons. I am having a hard time singing while strumming, but this is really helping with that. The only thing I strugged with this and the second video after this, was the transition from C to B7, buuuuut I watched your fingers to see how you did the transition and now I know :D.

Hi Bernadette I am new to Ukulele and love your videos. Please can you make some more sing and strum videos. I loved this. I really struggle with strumming patterns and having the step by step to be able to sing and strum an easy song is fantastic. Thank you:

I wish all the songs were taught or presented this way. Going through the 30 day challenge I could not figure out how to match up where the cords came in with the words. I am hoping as I go along this will be explained. Hope to see more of this. David K.
