How To Strengthen your Knees

knees are a very important part of our body, we take them for granted until the day that, ops, we cannot do stairs anymore. Keeping healthy and strong knees will allow us to keep mobile and avoid injuries.
!!!IMPORTANT!!!
If you have never done exercises for knees before, please consult your doctor, physio or osteopath.
Some of the exercises I’ll show in the videos are quite hard and might be too advanced for you.
**PLEASE STOP IF YOU FEEL PAIN**
If you had a surgery, again, these exercises might not be adequate for you. Make sure you are warm and don’t overdo it, take it slowly and gradually make your way through the video. Please be careful and love your body.

    These exercises are very good they really strengthened my knees before it used to pain if I just jumped from one leg now I can do it with my toes!

    Hello!!! Yes knees are so tricky that I don't want anyone to hurt themselves! I really hope they are helping you out tho and getting you stronger to dance tango! I tried learning tango too but i always wanted to lead and the teacher kept telling me off LOL I really want to learn it properly too as i find it one of the most wonderful disciplines ever. Soft spot for Tango i have to say, and how can you not love the music that takes you through the steps! I wish you all the best Nat! Lots of love Alessia

    You should find it very easy. I am trying those mini-barre videos of yours and god, tango has stolen EVERYTHING from ballet. Piques and rondeos and posture and everything. Hope you'll give it a try, though!! Kisses

    What did your cutest cat think about this exercise? My cat starts to roll on his back and twists and purrs whenever I exercise :-D

    as soon as my knee gets less painful from wrong knee alignment (because of how i was taught to do plies and turnout when i was 5) i will do these heaps! (I'm twelve btw)

    This is why I love you!! I've been having knee pain lately (which I have off and on due to my hyperextension and tight IT bands). I was just thinking about knee strengthening. You rock Alessia!! :-)

    I am so happy about this video. I have had surgery on my left knee (years ago and still have issues) and constantly feel pain in the right knee now. I have tried to do other workouts to strengthen the knees and end up feeling more pain later. I cannot wait to try this. These are some exercises that I already do but not to the extent that you have shown.Thank you for doing this one. I wonder if you could do one for people who have herniated discs. I have herniated the whole lumbar section of my back and some of those exercises you do, I cannot do. I have some nerve damage to my legs from the herniation as well. I need something that slowly gets me bending backwards without being in pain for days or weeks later.

    I want to ask you something. My legs is not straight and my knees are not combine together. My ballet teachers always say that i have to tighten my knees. And, when i am doing your exersizes, i notice that my knees are starting to combine. But when i stop doing your exercises for 2 days , i notice that they starting to diverge. So i need to practise regularly. But, when we come to straighten my leg, what can i do? Is it a problem or it can get better? Or if i do these knee exercises, can it get better? i think the problem is in my knee because it cannot straighten enough. Can you suggest something like some exercises or something else? ( sorry for my bad english but i need help!!)

    my knees are bad, my thigh to knee are very straight, but after that untill my ankle, my leg curves outwards i really hope this works

    My knees feel painful when I did the other exercise--I think it is the turnout barre one. When I did the pile, bending my knees and rotating them inward and outward--I am sure I did not twist them--my knees feel really sore and painful. Is it normal? Is there anything I can do to make my knees stronger? Will this newly posted exercise too demanding for me? Thank you!

    Keep sustaing your feet arches and don't over-rotate from the knee down. Use your upper leg muscles, never your lower legs to find the right turnout :)

    Lazy Dancer Tips thank you Alessia~ yes I think I probably rotated my feet out too much. I have joint hypermobility, does it contribute anything to the knee pains? I got knee pains if I jump for long as well.
