    1. reframe your state of mind 2. work on your self worth 3. find a strong support network 4. break down your goals and celebrate small victories 5. talk it out also, remember: you’re human, you’re going to make mistakes. that screw up feeling? that’s called youth, and youth is eternal so we’ll always have our downs, but you got this ❤️

    Having the mindset of "Ah i don't deserve it" is the worst thing you can ever do to yourself.. Because in the end anything you achieve will be the result of unimaginable amounts of hard work and patience.. Your own hard work and your very own patience.. So stop having this mindset

    Self-sabotage often stems from self-hate , this is a problem nobody seems to mention . Many of us have turned our minds into dark and scary places so we seek peace outside but true peace comes from inside and momentary reliefs soon turn into destructive habits.

  • @HeatherStrickler
    @HeatherStrickler6 ай бұрын

    I have heard that self-sabotage is your body trying to protect you even if you aren’t in any danger. For example I am making a big move in the next month and I have gone through waves of my brain literally trying to convince me it’s a horrible idea and try to come up with excuses not to do it. The way I get through it is being aware that that is just my body wanting to stay in my comfort zone. As I’m experiencing this I don’t think it’s a self worth thing it’s a natural instinct from the body to try and protect you. I am not a scientist or anything but I’m in the middle of wanting to sabotage an awesome opportunity for myself and that is the only conclusion that makes any sense to me and what I’m feeling. I’m sure there are other reasons too but I think the main one is your body wanting to stay where it’s comfortable even if that comfort zone is terrible for you.

    My issue is that I'm too hard on myself when I get or do something wrong; recently, I've started trying to learn German so I can study abroad, and whenever I forget how to spell or pronounce something, I'll berate myself and say stuff like "I should have known that!" or "of course I got that wrong..." Thankfully I'm working on not being so harsh on myself, and instead will say something like "oh that's how you spelled it!" or " I'll remind myself to practice more on that pronunciation later." I guess just expect better of myself, but need to remember that learning anything let alone a new language is tough , and I won't be fluent overnight. "Rome wasn't built in a day" as the old saying goes.

    I call myself mistress of procrastinating. I know where my mistakes are and how to avoid them, I tried to make small goals. And finally turned to a friend for support. She wants to be my push to get me to do it, my pillar for frustration, my help for when I need it. And here I am. I'd never lie to my friends. Yet I lied to her, saying I'd work on it while I was again procrastinating. And I'm so mad at myself about it. She didn't deserve me lying to her. All I can do now is to make up for it by catching up with the load of work I should have finished by now.... (but alas, I didn't do anything again today and the vicious circle keeps turning)

    I developed a bad habit of raising my middle finger or saying curse words whenever I feel sabotaging myself, idk if thats good LOL but it helps me to f*** it off my problems and just do what I feel.

    I think science has proven health benefits of cursing. I prefer to curse in secret or with anyone I feel extremely comfortable with.

    I want to address the making mistakes. It's one thing to forgive yourself. But it's another thing to try and drown out and not internalise the negative messages from others who chastise you (boss, parent etc) for not being perfect or getting it right. Self acceptance is very important. But you also might have to cut ties with the person doing the shaming or even minimizing time spent with them

    "Do you deserve success?" Re whatever is valuable to you. This can be part of self-worth. Do you deserve to be happy? I have ideas for novels but I never write. I always put it off. I might exit this life without writing anything. This is self-sabotage.

    Success is such a difficult word to express. What even is "success"? How do people value it? Why is it called "success" and not "living"? Also, who cares if you're being "successful" at the end of the day? Does it even matter if everyone knows you? I tell you what: no, no it isn't. Success is personal, meaning that you defy what "success" is, not others. It has standards, yes, but the society decided it. But who cares? Not me for sure. You're the one defying success. The closest to being "successful" is following your dreams, but even if you don't, what tells you that you're not being "successful"? If you want to be an astronaut, but end up being a mechanic, but you're feeling great with yourself, why shouldn't this be a "success"? I mean, you're happy with your life, aren't you?

    I have a really hard time with the growth mindset. I consistantly run away from my responsibilities and it's so bad that I have spent 3 years failing high school, I don't see any hope of passing or having a decent future. I probably can change my mindset to become better, but after so long of dreaming and not acting I just don't want to go through the pain of finding hope and then losing it again. I want to stop doing this to myself but I don't think I ever can.

    I can relate to this with my work. I have a hard time saying no to others so I accept every work request. Only after later realizing that I hate doing to thing or I didn't have the time to commit (which I knew I would) , I get mad at myself for taking it and I feel like I'm stuck. So I self sabotage my work and my relationship. I'm trying to work on saying no and closing work I didn't want to do. It's not easy though. 😕
