How to Stop Longing for Someone or Something
Licensed Therapist, Kim Egel describes and gives tips on how to cope with the feeling of longing for someone or something. Longing is an intense emotion that can create a lot of suffering in our lives if we don't find a healthy way to cope with it. Kim offers some perspective on this mental health topic.
Kim has been a licensed Marriage Family Therapist for 15 years and working within mental health for 20 years. Her private practice is based around the principles of authentic truth and overall wellness. Kim received her BA degree in Human Development from UC San Diego and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. As a former semi professional track and field athlete, Kim recognizes and brings the concepts of the mind, body and spirit connection into her client sessions.

This may be true for most people. However, I honestly believe that there is no boat coming for some of us, and we need to accept that reality.

You make a boat happen then
''Just because something haven't happened yet, it does not mean it will never happen.'' Might be true, but in my whole life certain things just never happened and I have probably not much time left in this world. So there are some people who are excluded from certain things. I don't want to destroy any believes. I just want to show there are some special cases out there in the world
I've been waiting 60 years for me hearts desire ...I think it's time to face that it's NOT going to happen

Sometimes people even at 70 or 80 have great success far beyond what anyone could have imagined possible or find the love of their lives. But that may not happen for you or me, still I think we can find a very true peace and love being with what is and whatever may or may not come.

I'm 61 and I can relate.
My 2 year long distance relationship ended two months ago because our issues came up, we had a fight, and he abandoned me. At this two months mark, for the past few weeks I have been crying in such despair. Today is the first day I haven't cried, choosing instead to work on myself. (It helps to say out loud to myself "I don't want him anymore" even though I do) Thank you for your video. It's the first one I've seen of yours and I appreciate how short it is. Every day or so I get youtube burnout and though I want to watch more videos, I reach a point where I can't sit through another 20 minute video. You are concise and to the point, which I love.

Thank you for your response. Let yourself feel all the emotions; ultimately, that's how you will heal vs. putting a bandaid on things. Here's a blog post on how to feel your difficult emotions that I wrote that you might find help: www.kimegel.com/blog/2022/3/22/how-to-feel-your-emotions-if-you-dont-know-how
Cool video, My relationship of 5 years ended a month ago. The love of my life decided to move on, I really loved her so much i can’t stop thinking about her and the memories we shared. I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail. I’m frustrated, and i don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts, but i can’t. I don’t know why I’m saying this here, but i really miss her and i wish i could get her back.

I have been in such a situation. My relationship ended about three years ago, but i could not let her go. So i had to do all i could to get her back, i had to seek the help of a spiritual adviser who helped me bring her back. We are back together, and i must say i am enjoying every moment.

Great video and fits perfectly with mystical principles. You have stop sending yourself subconscious messages through what you are feeding your conscious awareness. You also have to live like you already have what you want and take the mundane steps to work on getting it as well. Really think of what you want and fill in every detail about what it is like in all aspects. That visual picture will also feed your subconscious to help manifest your desire(s).
Such beautiful rings. And of course the content💞 thanks

Thank You, Dr. Kim; what you are telling me is comforting. However, being that I am 55 and the rose of steadfast love still hasn’t delivered to my heart, could you please tell me how I can once and for all get over it, overcome and move beyond the pain and accept it so that I may begin enjoying my days off in solitude? Thank You, Ma’am… 💖 What you mentioned about missing a boat but not the ship would have been platinum to this shy guy had I been a few decades younger.

This video has really given me hope to get back with my person. But it's really scary to hold on to the belief that things will get better. After all the bad experiences I had with this person I decided to move on and heal myself from the inside but some what I still feel stuck inside.. a feeling of should I hold on or move forward in life?

I'm just going to repeat to you what you wrote above "it feels like i need to open my heart for the present." Here's my question: How can doing something so authentically true for you lead you wrong? Also here's an article that might be helpful: www.kimegel.com/blog
Looking outside ourselves for fulfillment, happiness, or meaning is the definition of insanity.

How do I get over a block after a divorce 13 years ago?

some thoughts: with acceptance by allowing the grief and pain of the divorce to fully come up & be felt by looking at what you learned from the relationship by focusing on your present and learning to live in the now vs. in focusing on the past.
My wife left without a trace all I have now is our three toddlers and the sweet memories that we had It's so painful.

@ThiruNash I'm so sorry to hear that, hopefully You can meet someone new to help you with the toddlers. Do you have any family, like parents or relatives that can help? May God help you and bless you and your children.
I feel that way about getting a horse. I'm waiting on the Lord, and I must admit, I feel even more longing in a purer form. However, I have been limerant about it. Not seeing how getting a horse, also comes with problems I am not prepared for yet. I blinded myself to those problems and got upset with my partner for not wanting to get one. Sometimes we just look at the sunshine when we are standing in a pile of horse shat.
