Thank you for your videos!! Our 8 month old Newfie/ Great Pyrenees mix bites endlessly and has all sorts of behaviors that we are trying to get on top of before he gets any bigger. It’s great to hear a series of videos specific to his breed! Thank you for helping me to know what I can do to be a better owner in order to change those behaviors.

I went through the online puppy course when I ot my puppy. I I feel my pup (14M) respects me most of the time. She is a Newfy-Great Pyrenees mix and now weighs over 110#. We get out and walk in the morning and evening. She was 1 of 2 pups in the litter and actually came to us at 6 weeks. She will all of a sudden start jumping at me and mouthing me. I use my forearms to protect myself. When I start walking to try and get away (unfortunately we are usually at the end of our walk but not quite home yet) she starts going between my legs and will mouth my ankles or calves, like she is trying to bring me down. My forearms and upper arms get so bruised, I have people giving me second looks. I have gotten her to a tree and leashed her to the tree as I walk away to try and calm down and hopefully calm her down! (I love the Fenrir training leash by-the-way.) The one morning I had to leash her three times! The first two were within a couple feet of the initial zoomie, pulling me this way and that and then lets get Laura! I have dropped the leash and climbed up an outlook to get away from her. I am so nervous she will do this to my kids or elderly parents. I have started taking a toy out in case she is actually playing... If anyone sees this, I will accept any kind of feedback.

Hey people with puppy newfoundland i just got a new one and he is super friendly put he is pretty nippy sometimes i just get up and go away how hard is it to train them to stop biting because he learned sit in half day

I correct mine with that leader authority but he becomes verbal and runs at me full on biting its almost as if it upsets him into anger mode. I am seeking puppy training now because im so frustrated I am thinking of returning him to the owner because it feels like he hates me it’s frustrating and sad because I adore him but aggression at age 12 weeks is odd

A different topic to ask about is it safe to have my dog around other dogs an people when people are dieing from covid-19 I have cancer so all my time is spent on my dog. At first I wanted to be around other dog owners now I question is it safe.

Address the undesirable behaviour, verbal correction, redirection, re-enforce the praise.👍

I raised five Newfoundlands...they do not bite! They open their mouths and wrap it around your hand or thin part of your arm to show affection. For them it Is like kissing. I also raised cats who were not quiet & demure.... My Newfs did not bite them or kill them. A Newfoundland is not a canine...A Newfoundland is a Newfoundland! You must let the puppy know that it will be allowed to grow and do What a Newfoundland has been bred to be. And that is a magical thing! You don't force it into a cage to teach it discipline...The Newf will demand Freedom & start barking...then you will immediately call this "expert". Let your Newfoundland follow you,let it know your daily routine because the Newf will automatically know how to participate in your life. You will be happy & the Newfie will become your child even at 219pounds! AnnaPenrod 😎

The dog moves,it jumps,it rolls over, It opens it's mouth snarls & barks to show interest,excitement,to tell you it knows What you are trying to teach it. Dogs do not talk... they do not speak English. But they want to participate. Even a poodle will nip your nose. The choice is yours...Ask yourself.... Why do you want a dog? I remember when I got my Newfie. My late husband & I flew back to Jersey from living in Santo Domingo for 9years. We traveled,so housing a dog was impossible. While waiting for our house we stayed at the Hyatt & I read a big dog book. You know why I found the breed of Newfoundland? I admired it's reputation as a water rescue dog,but I studied it's eyes! I said to myself,it will always be my friend. Your puppy bite your nose! "Oh,dear!" @@activitiesbrookmont2388 lol that was hard to read. you said dogs dont bite i said it bit my nose.... i never said it did it on purpose or that i think she is violent because of it. you tell me stuff like i dont know my dog. you bought your dog cause you read a book and admire it for the water recuse this breed does.......i bought it because i have known and owned over 10 of these dogs myself and i love how they are gental towards kids i know this for fact cause i was an wild kid with one i pulled its tail and was rough with one of mine and he never bite or attacked me (i was under 10) and also on that bit not being on purpose or cause of agression i know this cause i use to train what you would call now guard dogs we called them attack dogs cause that was there job ( i was around 14) now im 40 and i want a dog for my daughter so with all my experiance i bought a newfieberger. now i dont want to be an ahole but i dont like people tryign to explain stuff i know already to me like a child so i have to be. so this is the part were i say thanks, but i know more then you have a great day p.s for your experiance with newfies you still belive that "Dogs do not talk... they do not speak English" ? ok then

Writing over the internet is hard. Pushing my own opinions on a stranger Is not my style., But I'am generous & helpful. I assure you that Newfie pups love to bite. They’re not biting from anger, they’re playing but it’s still very bad around toddlers.

We have a Newfoundland and his biting is out of control. I’m covered in bruises and puncture wounds and he’s only 4 months old. If we don’t address it it will get dangerous. Not a stupid title at all.

@@christinarairdan2424 ours was rather bad with nipping, especially when the kids would run around playing while making a lot of noise. He’s almost nine months now and has improved, although not where he needs to be. It will get better, though. I even resulted to using a vibrating collar. They learn so fast, the shock function wasn’t needed at all.

Not true at all, newfoundlands don’t aggressively bite a lot. But they are lovey and bitey by nature, very intensely!

@@gbaker1a775 he’s gotten better for sure but still mouthing. We have been working with him and are seeing progress. I’m hoping we can break the habit entirely as we also have young kids. They definitely learn so fast! My problem is I just have no idea what I’m doing so to him when I’m trying to get him to stop he sees it as play. He’s fine with my husband so I’m trying to just do what my husband does and it’s sort of working. I need to establish that leader role.
