I have never been a dog mom, but if I do, I want to have a Newfie baby. Except for the weather where we live ( hot weather) it’s perfect. My husband and I just want to lounge, I can see a Newfie being perfect. And they are just perfect! Look at their face! Look at the at face 🥹🥹🥹

I’m training one for my neighbor now and the only reason I see not to get this dog is they want to train it now 2 year later 😂 it’s beautiful and friendly and loves me I just wish I got him earlier as a puppy!

I don't have a new-FOUND-land. I have a newfn'-LAND. My Landseer Newf is 18 months old. Ichinojo has always had a kind disposition and he's been easy to train, but he's a humper and it's been hard work training him not to mount other dogs or people he meets for the first time. You're right about Newfs' water instincts - whenever I take Ichinojo to the beach or to one of the lochs he bolts straight for the water and doesn't come out until he's tired.

Very, very large puppies "100lbs"with very, very sharp teeth. "May not be a good fit with small children. Otherwise, our Nufie was an experience of a lifetime. King Neptune was a 10 inches taller than standard dog of 220lbs. An incredible gentle giant, lifeguard and nursemad.

I adopter my Newfie ,Ben , 15 months ago. You described him perfectly. At 153 lbs already, he is an absolute best friend. He has the run of over forty acres with several ponds. Keep the videos and information coming please. His vet says he is in perfect help. I’m seventy years old with grandkids and several great grandkids who live on the property. Ben is well loved

We have had three Newies, we are now on our fourth and have been for about 3 years. We live between Lake Macquarie and Catherine Hill Beach, so he gets plenty of water in which to play. The problem though is other people (Not many) and their dogs also play at the beach. So Koda all 75 kilos of him (As in Kodiac bear) loves to run up to those people and or their dogs, obviously they (the dogs or the people) become intimidated, scared and as a consequence I get abused or the other dogs become aggressive (of course Koda backs off) So I have to keep him on a five metre lead, first to let him run and second to keep him away from other people and dogs until, they come to accept him, then its PLAY TIME.

I have an 18 month old Landseer Newfie. When I brought Ichinojo home my first task was to acclimate him to my house and show him which areas were his. Then I got to work on bonding. Then after he accepted me as his master and realised I loved him and would always take care of him we got to work on boundary and obedience training. Potty training was a breeze. Whenever he pooped I'd scoop it up and put it in a corner of the yard, and after a day or two he figured out that was the spot he should pee and poop in.

I have 2 Newfoundland’s, koe who is 15 months old, and Emory who is almost 11 months old. Both a great dogs, very reserved and both listen amazingly. They love all the neighbors and their kids. After having Bassett hounds my whole life, i don’t think i will ever own another breed besides a Newfie

Just rescued a beautiful Newfoundland = pretty sure she's not a purebred but she's a GIANT MARSHMALLOW.... except when it comes to cats and goats.. She is around a year and a half. I have been through a very tough year, losing both my husband and my beloved cats of 18 years. Any advice on the cat aggression?

"Certified canine" WHAT? By whom? if I could get my hands on these godawful people I'd show them what cropped and docked was REALLY all about! Hell, they can't properly pronounce the name of the Canadian Province and breed. There are reasons this channel is no longer providing content and viewers are well advised to treat both the channel and the so called "certified canine" scammers as just that. Makes my blood boil.

Why not? Cuz they DROOOOOL not just alot, but A LOT ALOT? Cuz they cost alot of money to take care of? Cuz they require a BUTT load of constant grooming? Cuz you can't go swimming without tying them up first? Those are the downsides, the upside is, they are the BESTEST family dogs.Loving, loyal, intelligent, obediant, tolerant, and protective. They have the most UNIQUE scent of any dog, I personally think its wonderful. They are a very special breed, and will give you a very special experience that you wont find with other breeds.

Make no mistake, it's people like this who, in fact, pose the biggest threat to the breed. The more popular they become only increases the pressure on breeders, both good and bad and puppy mills to produce yet more dogs. Inbreeding becomes a problem. Too many people, falling in love with the puppies, (we did!) don't really understand just how BIG a Newf can become both in size AND commitment. Newfs don't live in your house, they overwhelm it and they are expensive to properly care for, make no mistake. A 100-125lb dog can have big health problems which means big vet bills. As a result, dogs end up in shelters or worse. ( If you can't afford health insurance you probably can't afford the dog...at the very least, talk with your vet, please!) We were blessed to have had not one but two champions, at the same time! And I miss them. PLEASE, do your due diligence beforehand. It'll be time well spent.

I correct mine with that leader authority but he becomes verbal and runs at me full on biting its almost as if it upsets him into anger mode. I am seeking puppy training now because im so frustrated I am thinking of returning him to the owner because it feels like he hates me it’s frustrating and sad because I adore him but aggression at age 12 weeks is odd

I agree with @tinamarienielsen4957. This video gives one way of PREVENTING rough play, but nothing at all about how to STOP it. I have a Newfoundland bitch and a Bernese Mountain Dog bitch (and a Yellow Lab, but she is not part of the problem). Nearly all of the time they get on great, but just today for the third time in a year they have just had a major fight. All three times the fight has arisen out of nothing we can see. I looked at your video, and although it is a good sensible video, it is misnamed. My wife and I are both six feet tall and well built and it is about all we can do to separate them (using the wheelbarrow method). Dunking water on them and putting blankets over them does nothing. Perhaps you could rename this video "How to prevent your NEWFOUNDLAND from playing rough" and make a new one titled "How to STOP your NEWFOUNDLAND playing rough".

Don't use pineapple to get them to sit unless you don't want anyone else to be able to get them to sit. If you want other people to have a good time interacting with your dog then use the common commands and hand gestures. Don't get too creative

When I was 10, we got a female newfoundland. If we were out at a park having a picnic, she would put herself between us and strangers. My folks wouldn't let people pet her as she would often growl and then I think she once tried to bite someone. So, yea, not a German Shephard but a bit more protective that our black lab. Both were sweet dogs to family and own. Lab was all bark; newfoundland might have had some bite.

Srsly dude what is wrong with "dog trainer"? How many foxes, coyotes, and wolves do you work with? Are you a Canine Behaviorist(super euphemistic language) or a highly skilled dog trainer. I wish everyone would stop this bs. When I go to the hospital I am not looking for a licensed human medical care giver. Nope I'll call them a nurse.

Ages ago I was watching a show on Newfies, one gentleman told a tale of walking his Newfie on the beach where there was someone body surfing, the dog saw the surfer and dove into the ocean swam out grabbed the surfer arm and dragged back to shore. The owner was embarrassed and impressed as he never taught the dog to do this.

On my second Newfie Berner Cross... I've got him so he never needs a lead though it took a little work. No drool with the Bernese' s longer muzzle. People gasp with delight when they meet him and he's a total charmer. BUT I had to be firm with him in adolescence, I think it's important to say.

I had 3 goofy newfies over a 25 year period. Part of the time we had 2. They are wonderful family members. The problem is that when they pass, you mourn them as much as loosing a child. Newfies and kids do get along very well. If you like to swim, they may decide to rescue you, whether you want to be rescued or not. If you get a newfie, get a central vacuum. Good Luck, Rick
