Very good video I just got my mower back from john deere the carb was done on it! I didn't realize you had to hold the choke up to start it! That's very good to know thank you very much! And shut it off at half throttle!

So I got my mower back and I'm not impressed it doesn't start without a shot of ether anymore doesn't matter how I choke it I'm not happy any ideas! The plugs and stuff are good on them! Lol they changed the carburetor on it and it's like it's not choking at all anymore! As soon as I give it a little shot of ether it fires right up on a half second burst into the air filter! Lol

Sounds like the shop did not do it correctly?? I would take it back to them to repair it correctly.

Got mine late July 2022. Good mower. Could use a little more power. Wonder if they make a turbo for that Kawasaki?

How good is this Engine ?

what kind of oil to use ? Something better than John Deer oil ?

Can you tell me how to raise the lawn guard & lock it? I need it to be up to get it on my trailer. TIA

Just ordered an 2023 s-220 with the tlt 200 transmission with 22hp Briggs and Stratton. Do you think I am better off with the 240? Just ordered Friday and the dealership hasn’t even called me about payment so I am sure that I can switch. The 240 is $400 more. Thanks

I do not know the difference between them both as I’m not a John Deere salesman (who would know the differences). I would suggest talking to sales rep and make your decision based on what the differences are. I can say, so far from what I have seen, they are both good mowers. It all depends on how you treat them and you get what you pay for.

NO! Do not mix oil with the gas. Make sure the engine oil is at the correct level and use straight gasoline in the gas tank.

@Johnson's Small Engines what's your imput on those reverse controls? I had a cub cadet, and man, it just drove me crazy. But evey thing is all about safety these days.

Just like all the other safety switches that have come along. You get use to it and then it’s like second nature. At least for most of us. If you really don’t like it, Cub cadet tractors have a better set up. I still like the John Deere’s just because I think there better built than the cub cadets. Remember Cub Cadet is actually MTD and MTD was the poorest, cheapest and in my opinion the lowest end product back in the day. They have been better but I still don’t care for some models.

All the 2023 models have green decks, I don't like them. I just bought a new mower and was lucky enough to find what I wanted that was last years.

I hit a small stump with mine, now it clicks but won't start. Do you know if the S240 has a safety switch reset somewhere?

Make sure your PTO switch is off. Then try and start it.
