This is a great video. I've just recently landed a job after having a 7 year gap due to an accident and Covid pandemic back to back. I remember putting my resume in around 15 job postings and only 1 manager took me in for an interview. I went there like nothing of my past ever happened, I told him the truth and made it seem as if the situation was just "Life" in which I had no control over. He noticed how I targeted in my resume that I recently obtained a license for the job I applied for and that I had 8 years experience of customer service before my 7 year gap. Before I applied I knew what the company was requiring me to qualify for (customer service and a license) and I got the job instantly. So, this video is spot on with the advice because its all about what the company needs, not the gaps, primarily because they may run a criminal background anyway! I would say this, if you get rejected based on a gap in your resume, then you are lucky not to work there because most likely it is managed by unprofessional bosses who will never appreciate your value in skills.

The biggest problem with Indian employers or managers is they don't understand that taking a break is normal. They are still in a very orthodox mindset of the Industrial revolution. I attended an interview when I started looking for a different role a few months ago. I told them I quit my previous role because I was tired and frustrated of programming and development, I wanted to move to a different role. The morons told me it's not a convincing reason to take a break. Then what else is a convincing reason?

I gave up trying to get into a corporate job through a HR department. I work as a chef, and I did it kind of a long time. So they ask, why are you interested in changing? I said - I'm exhausted/tired of my fellow employees coming in high (drugs) or not coming in at all, and related. They seemed to think, that meant I had "no experience". HR departments can be so ornery, I'M the expert actually, not them! It's true that there is a lot of drug abuse in the restaurant industry, but really I know what's too much

Dear, this is not a gap at all, you will be considered an employed person, even if you are not getting salary. so just mention the company is not able to pay so you are looking out for new opportunities. The gap will be only counted once you have resigned formally and have the relieving letter from your current company and they already marked you an exit.

what, when companies mention the year of passing in their recruitment drive? companies should also change their mindset regarding year of passing or year gap. Many jobseekers couldn't apply to particular job even having any particular skill set only because they are not eligible because of their passing year.

Dear, Your Resume and cover letter is to showcase all that is relevant to the job that you are applying for... If you think your gap is related to the skill and job in some way, then you can mention it, else why to waste that limited space in providing unnecessary information..

Hello mam, I took a break in 2020 after 5.8 yrs of experience due to personal reasons. I worked in operations CS domain and now I am switching to HR as I'm interested in the field and after some research I feel like this is path I wanna grow in. But given I'm new to the field and prior experience I'm wondering what my changes of getting a job are. Also where to start from. I have taken up a certificate course to get some basic understanding of the subject. Any advise?

Mme. I was working in an IS based IT recruiting company in Goa for 5 years i.e. I had started working there on 26th Feb 2015 and I was furloughed along with 2 recruiters from April 20th 2020 due to covid19 guidelines in India Goa and due to the rise in Cases in US and in India lockdown was extended as their plan was to call me back on 4th May 2020 but it didn't happen my HR had called me on 8th May 2020 and she had told me that they are not so sure when and how long the lockdown will last and their labour LAW had told them that they can't keep too many employees on a furlough... And they as in their US labour LAW had told them to fire the furloughed employees.. which my HR didn't like so I was told if I give in my resignation with a notice for May 2020 and we will provide you your salary and your graduaity... So Mme.. did I take the right decision of resigning and I am still without a job as due to covid there are less Job vacancies in Goa in my nearby areas? And my 2nd question is what reply should I give to my next employer about my Gap?
