I am going through all this..
Leave immediately if you are more talented than your boss. This will happen due to transfer etc. knowingly no boss will hire a smarter guy than himself.
The manager in my workplace is so malignant that many people just walked out without giving any notice. I gave my resignation letter last week and can not wait for this to be over. Surely, your mental health is too important to tolerate harrasments and bullying, whether in an active or passive form.
Finding a job with good people is so important for mental health and growth. Staying in a toxic work environment is one of the worst things you can do to yourself professionally and personally.
Good analysis. Many employees fall prey to the sweet trap. Another misconception is "don't leave till you have another job in hand." I believe that is the worst reason to continue in a toxic work environment.
@amanmanojpreeti
11 ай бұрын
That's not a misconception. It's a fact. It's always better to have another opportunity before you leave one. Otherwise, the level of stress you will be facing after leaving your current job will be many times greater than the level of stress you were having while having that job! If in case it's not the same for you, then that's an exception where you can leave your job first and then look for another one.

I had bumped heads with my store manager. He came to me and said he wanted to start fresh. I said that’s fine but I still don’t trust him. Now, he keeps it short , talks to the other coworkers , barely acknowledges me and my improvements around the workplace and leaves me out of conversations. He is very immature. He is a drama queen too. But he has a whole wide and two kids at home. But he notices that I’m unbothered by him.

What if it is complete opposite of point no.3 ..... if a company is not spending anything on fun things, parties, dinners, team building fun activity, no gifts at all in year (like diwali or birthday etc.) ? ........... Happened with me, company pretty good and well reputed for contributing to India (maybe you can guess), I was also highly rated in my 1st appraisal 1st job, but still less increment percent ;;;;; I feel not very happy, but maybe i am wrong
I was harassed from day one in the newly assigned Client project. I was told no release will be given, instead disciplinary HR action will be taken for not following official timings as the client has escalated it. Hardly anyone was following it anyway but I was only one being cherry picked. Keep in mind 11-12 hrs of work doesn't matter to them + 3 hrs travelling, Saturday work. Can't take leave, have to use only comp offs as leave will affect their billing. When I said I will come by 9am then leave by 6pm everyday, the response was- you will get that kind of appraisal. I resigned today in a messy way & there is a very high probability that they will make my notice period hellish as possible. In India, these big MNCs are practising Modern Day Bonded Labour. I feel pity for those who can't muster the courage to end this slavery. IMO, Self respect should be paramount!

I was working for Deloitte, my coach/ Manager was not good , he did not have much knowledge , He never used to appreciate me even though I was doing a good job and at the end they made me redundant.
No. 4... My boss harassed & compelled me to get higher levels of qualifications, of which I happily wanted to do anyway , but then she accused me of only furthering my education so that she'd have to pay me more. Hearing that confirmed that my boss is toxic & that she wants the highest standard of work & employee, but she just wants to pay them an unfair bare minimum. I told her that it's not working out that I remain her employee & that I wanted to leave..... My new employer appreciates my efforts for her & she compensates me fairly to make it mutually worthwhile for both of us & I couldn't be happier. Our work life is too short to put up with an employer that wants to psychologically & financially use & abuse us & if we put up with it we are just hurting ourselves. Thanks for the video.

I don't know but my boss is also a lady and she is very toxic. Never appreciate and put blames on others.
I so relate to point #1. My manager on the new account within the company was never happy with anything I did. He gave me constructive feedback 2 weeks after I got promoted 😝 Always left me so confused, till the day when he gave me a feedback that should not be “too jovial” and “interact too much” on the floor 😝 Am an extrovert and people tend to love this quality but somehow this microdick guy doesn’t like me because of this 😝 I resigned soon after because my personality is something I would not change for a mere job.
#4 Happened with me. I completed one of my certifications and even had a discussion with my HR as a request if they would be able to increase my salary or at-least give a bonus. Nope they didn't after waiting for few months. I knew it's a major red flag for me, so I exited peacefully.

All 5 of your points are valid ones and I can vouch for all of them to be true after I learnt about them the hard and bitter way. My manager and supervisor in my company where I worked 10 years ago had got an unexplainable friction with me inspite of I being the top performer for month on month for over three years straight. I would get the highest amount of appreciations but no monetary or even leaves benefits in the organisation. Infact, inspite of being the highest performer, they conspired along with the supervisor and the HR to even throw me out of the company. The company was Hewlett Packard before the split. Now look what has happened to the company and the part of the organisation where I worked was so unceremoniously spat out from the parent organisation to become what is today called DXC with all of its brand value gone and even those managers left without anything to feel proud about.

I want to ask you something regarding job. after interview if i was rejected and HR telling me for negative rating and not giving specific reason. what is Hr telling me negative rating?
Mine was 1. Keep taking on more and more projects without increasing the number of employees. 2. Delays the promise 6 month evaluation/increase. Or if you only bring it up. 3. No pay for overtime. But decreases your salary for tardiness. 4. Compulsory be available anytime. Else, you should inform hin of your personal schedules during rest days just so he knows that you are "busy" 5. His use of the word "family" is just soo weird for me everytime. 6. Does not orientate you or discuss with you additional tasks you will be taking after a colleague left. He terms it as "help" and if you didnt help him, you become the bad guy. 7. Your coworker is his son. And he does almost next to nothing. So you get the brunt of his work. 8. His son's mistakes are yours. Because he cant get his shit up to tell off his own son as the boss. 9. Randomly creates rules that is not written on memo nor been implemented before. 10. Offers minimum compensation and tell you that you will be gaining skills and learning to equal it. I should really leave. Sigh. Writing this made it open my eyes wide. I just find it hard to leave because my coworkers have been very kind and me leaving will then result to a lower number of workers therefore jampacking them with work. 😢

Your coworkers getting slammed with the work if you leave is a management problem, not yours. Look out for yourself.
#1 happens very often - it is so common in industry these days, that it is very hard to avoid this kind of situation since it is out of your own control. Sometimes you have to sit it out a bit. But not too long, correct! #2 occurs often with supervisors who say the opposite of what they actually do. It often follows this pattern. Try to move on from such person. #3 is also called minimizing. Was once in this situation and left by myself before something worse could happen. #4 is often in conjunction with supervisor behavior of having favorites - few favorites get all the credit where others are (ab)used to support them. If two ore more of #1 to #4 are currently present at work - often they come as sort of combination -, get out of there.
In my experience there is no such thing as a good employer, ever, period.
I admire your sense of assessing these red flags..The fact is many people don't realise this that no matter how hard you work some organizations which will never be uplift u.
And one more thing that is demotivating when they only recognise your mistake but not your improvement
Most of the places you will get someone who will start troubling. Survival is difficult.
Yesterday I decided to leave company because I don't want to tolerate emotional abuse and discrimination my mind stability is more important than aganist some pennies now i will push myself for better job

Time to move forward there's more to life and plenty of jobs out there even an in-between job is better than staying in a toxic environment
@theCorporateDiaries Im glad i saw your video. Im in a pretty unsettling situation at my current job where this list is almost to the letter. Alot of this "Were a supportive family, youre very good at your job, etc" but its a weird vibe right now. Thank you for the insight!
My two exits in 2 companies, 1. company's people 10000 yr back culture (they don't like festival, birthdays...) 2. company say time is 9-6 then all days they work 9-7:30 atleast, (not get work life balance , only work)
Such a lovely and timely video.. You are like a Godsend 🙏🏻👍
I really appreciate this video, as I have never heard these things before. I am currently dealing with #1, 3 and 5. I have been debating whether I should apply for new jobs, but now I have confirmation that indeed I must apply for new jobs asap! Thank you for sharing this content.
I’m planning to leave as well. Others in our office same the same thing pettiness, I receive emotional abuse and tons of blame for a new job I was asked to start with very little support, micromanaging, gossip about me that I know about from upper management and other crap. I’ve been here longer than the two a$$hats. Should’ve bailed years ago. My colleague is wanting to leave too.
I am having massive friction with my boss and like you mentioned in this video, we clash and something changes in the dynamic when we communicate. In all our meetings she keeps mentioning issues and I'm trying to improve but it's taking time and she has no patience and it's clear she wants me out of the door.

I see those types of bosses as a challenge/competitor that I need to beat. It takes a lot of patience, but it's amazing how much more skilled and cunning you get with this mindset. Doesn't work for all situations though, some bosses are so toxic, it's just best for your own mental health to leave and secure the good reference for another job.

Then leave b4 she throws u out or else it will be too late. I was forced to leave in 2022 & up to now I'm not settled yet due to a bad recommendation every where I have tried to get a job!!!
Toxic work and HR told me leave the company 48days if i not perform well😂.after 5days i intiated resigned status from separation tool....
Super good points ! All points are perfectly valid !
I can completely relate to these red flags. Very well put thanks for this
So much true, no one talks about these things but you had very well put it across.
All the things you have mentioned happened to me. Thanks for the valuable information.
with you tube and social media lot of awareness created about job and career management. The older generation today must be regretting how they worked and carried on in-spite of issues politics, lack of remuneration/recognition and harassment due to family pressure.
These are really good points!
Thank you so much. All 5 points are just appropriate and true.
All red flags and still didnt leave. Kicked me out, expected it but that was always the plan for longer term success
Sweet trap is very rampant in sales. They give you 'best performer' certificates but when it comes to monetary benefits they just go in hiding.😂
Absolute Truth! - I can realte to all of it so well!
I had to leave a workplace/school enviroment after a coworker/colleauge decided to make it his missioon to spread slander and another DEAN of the school spread that I was lazy when she barely read any of my work AND EVEN TOLD ME TO not go in depth in my review paper. WHEN I Got THE REVEIWS BACK ont he paper the reveiwers ALL WANTED what my first plans for the paper were. I realized long before I couldnt be successful there. How could I? everyone seemed to be unable to allow progression of others.
Absolutely true 💯 percent ! Very meaningful video
Hi, Thanks for the video. All 5 points discussed in video are correct. Also I think there could be another point (6th point) about consistent over-work or related burnout being reason of employee's resignation or search for other opportunity.

This may be a shade of unpaid upscaling.
You are on point. Thank you Varsha.
I am working as designer but my company is telling me quality and production work as well. When I asked about this my manager told me you shouldn’t be deciding what you should do or what you shouldn’t be doing.
You have software services in mind when you mention these 5 indicators of Employer-Employee friction. Being a middle-level govt servant, I can tell you 4 of these apply to Govt. Service as well. Fortunately public servants get pay-hike as per time-scale even if their track-record is not good. This makes them complacent and irreverent.
You’re the first HR professional I respect. Thanks for creating this video!! Rest of 99.9999% are not required, should be eliminated from any org like termites. I think colleges should shop HR degrees, so that no people with degrees. Simply put, I HATE THEM THE MOST.
Hi, you have summarized all the trigger factors very cleanly. Great video 😊
Greetings of the day ma'am.i have recently joined your channel.your channel is going to be a game changer for millions of people.thanks for providing us help and knowledge with the help of your precious videos.
The Sweet Trap and No Reward for Up-scaling are two Red Flags I am seeing happening to me now. Thanks so much for this great video. I'll have to start planning my exit.
I missed many of these red flags and finally when project pressure gone high to sky i just absconded from hyd wipro, Doing too many contract jobs caused this .. I ended IT career like that... .. proper exit in right time and taking my time to rejunivate would have saved my career.. now back to my relatives company to give training to freshers on my domain after 5 long year career gap..
I've left on time, or so I thought, but they made it so toxic during my notice period that I had an anger burst... I highlighted everything that was wrong and called out the 'personal bullying' that I've gone through...So - I've done everything right until it wasn't possible anymore... We're only human... I wanted it to be a "manager hand-shake" exit, instead most of my colleagues walked me out of the office building and my manager and I didn't greet each other... Ah well... I moved on to a senior management position at a different company. It's going well. DON'T be too afraid to say what you think, the right company won't care about what a petty manager thought about you at a previous job... However, really practice when you get an interview with a new company... Focus on the next thing more that on your current situation.
Refrain from using insulting words like "Kicked out" for tech professionals. They are not some thieves to be kicked out of the house. They are working hard to earn what they deserve. So HRs like you should be mindful of using such terms. Employees too leave when they have learnt enough in a particular company then in such a situation will you say that "The employee has kicked the company"? I guess No.

Tech ppl have been responsible for this . Their sycophancy and culture of politics has caused them to be viewed as a commodity. Their is no unity amongst all IT professionals. So as a consequence they sadly do get viewed as such.

Don't be emotional. Having seen IT industry corporate culture for multiple decades in various roles n levels (n still doing well as a pure techie, despite major n minor setbacks, politics etc); kickout is a terminology in which many seniors think. For many (not all though), people are just resources. N it's especially true in service industry. It may be one's pride which do not accept that such filth is being thought for self; but I'd say, no point in being emotiontional about it. I for one, despite being technically proven on multiple latest tech aspects (you can call them cutting edge technologies); know for sure that when I work as an employee, then I'm no more than a 'skilled worker' for top bosses. N if I work as manager (however powerful) , then I'm no more than a management coolie.

@@prashantchaudhari7199 I am not getting emotional. And no matter what bosses or HR think about their employees but when they open their mouth they have to maintain a decency.

All 5 points are very important mam. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍
First of all thank you that you have made this video, I am a victim of all the things you have mentioned, and on top of that this video came at the right time.
Hindsight is 20/20. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Varsha.. U literally saved many blockages from a perspective individuals mind...
you are speaking the truth, but I suggest before leaving the current job, one must secure another job.
Appreciate all the points mentioned and they all are True. The only issue is, say, you join a company and found a sweet trap ....so you leave it and now in the next company same thing happens !!!! then you are stuck ( and unfortunately the probability of a sweet trap is way more then not getting in to it )

exactly. and you cannot mention these reasons to leave the company to a new company HR. It is everywhere, all we can do is to identify it and delay it so we can get out smoothly.

This is so true for a competent employee those who go in a company where the annual /promotional hikes aren't competitive
Very well put. An excellent video!
This was very eye opening. Thank you
The problem with personnel nowadays is not keeping them updated with current environment. They stop further learning once they come out of their institution, they never turn the pages of important concepts. If one can update himself regularly related to his employment, his top hierarchy will think thrice to lose him and he will feel secured in his employment and sleep peacefully every night leaving all worries.
There was a tine when our dad mom chacha ect... Use to work in a company for 20 30 years. Now its difficult to stay for 2 years
Thanks Varsha. I can relate all the pointers over my 13 years of experience
Insightful video every point was explained precisely. Best wishes mam .
I am victim of sweet trap. I am working in IT department of a company. Users in operation department are happy with my work, they give good remarks too in email but I got no promotion in last 13 years in this company..

My boss, scouted me when i was with our last job and took me to start a new project for a new business. Its going good and im happy to see the results. But recently i was asked to lead a team again, which i half expected and im ok with that, but i just found out the guys im to oversee are either paid the same as me or at its best paid $6 phr more than me and it could be even more. I know i do and have done a great job for this group, example - i wrote our end of year or fiscal report and based solely on that report we had an increase in our business approval from 700k to 1.2m for the delivery of this service for the next year. Well it was a big part of it. My dilemma now is, how am i to lead a team who by pay comparison are more likely my peers or my seniors, as anyone in the world will agree your payscale reflects your value, your qualifications, proven skills and experience. So by that criteria im overseeing people who are my seniors in this business?
Hi - thanks your videos are very precise and useful. just want to check I have experience in Test management, program delivery, solution consulting, operations, and engagement management. do I need to design different CVs or i can mention all that in one profile. just wondering if i keep everything in one profile, does it gives right impression to job poster.
