I literally can't imagine a more perfect tutorial. Other tutorials are very time consuming, this one is just straight to the point.

J'aime bien utiliser LFOtools perso, plus de contrôle pour un kick régulier ! D'un point de vue totalement subjectif je préfère cette basse sans le sidechain :)

to me, this is a perfect tutorial...

I have other drum hits on my drum rack - how do I choose only the kick? in the compressor under "audio from" - it just lists Drum Rack (which contains snare and hi hats etc) do i need to have my kick on its own channel for this to work?

There's another box below it, u need to select ur particular drum in that box to sidechain only that particular drum.

Another method is to create multibands and do sidechaining through multiband dynamics. In other words, u need to create multibands while solo-ing only that particular drum and use compression in it to sidechain

The easiest way is to simply drag the kick to a new midi channel, and then sidechain the new kick track. You can separate any drum sound in your rack to a new track.

For those of you wondering, you'll first want to insert a Compressor from Audio Effects, which is where the tutorial begins.
