I'm starting to see where I go wrong. You're using the complete dynamic range of your sounds where I tend to drive them into a limiter too much.

Hi Josh ! First and foremost, many thanks for all these videos! Question to the step at 1:04: Why are you drawing the kicks at C3? Is it because "C3" plays always the original sound of the sample (also for claps, hats etc)? I tried to shift to e.g. C4 and the sound changes as well. Sorry I have not a very limited musical theory. Thanks for answering!
