    After how many years since you've uploaded this video and it's still gold in 2023. There are many videos on here about how to set up your spin bike but this is highly the best and most accurate way with the clear demonstration and highlights, this video is gold, thaaank you. I never even considered pedal and knee alignment I've changed my seat height as well. I've started indoor bike riding and had been sustaining knee aches like most here within the comments and the slight alterations have helped immensely. Hand on heart, I'm truly grateful to you. Please, dont delete this video its highly invaluable.

    I had some slight knee pain after a cycling class at my gym. I had used the adjustment that the teacher had given me. I went into the studio with this video while the studio was empty and I wouldn’t be bothered, and adjusted my bike using this video. The teacher’s adjustment was completely wrong: she had my seat too low, she didn’t do a heel check, and she didn’t do a knee/flexion check. I’m honestly shocked that she was so incompetent, but when you have a class of 60 people, personal attention isn’t really a thing. I’m glad I found this video so that I could fix it before real damage was done.

    in my experience, most cycling classes are not led by people who actually use road bikes... those classes are often more pilates-esque rather than being focused on cycling techniques. so the people leading those classes often don't even know proper techniques for setting up a bike, posture on a bike, etc...

    I find this video really to the point, brief and helpful. Since instructors during spinning classes don't have time to check bike set-up for everyone you should know how to do it yourself. I have had the pain in my knees a couple of times after spinning classes as a result of incorrect bike set-up. The height of the seat is the most important to avoid this problem.

    What do you do if you are kind of in between two seat heights? Choose the higher or lower seat height? Should I choose the lower height which allows for more flexion at bottom of pedal ?

    I'd say, there's a tool that can measure the angle of the leg called a goniometer, check it in both settings and go with the one that is closest to the ideal setting.

    How does the flywheel weight effect the intensity of the workout? Can you do interval training and reach maximum heart rate with any flywheel weight?

  • @spinning

    @spinning

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Brandon. The perimeter weighted flywheel that was pioneered by Spinning® acts to smooth out your pedal stroke and help keep your momentum and even cadence. Our flywheel, along with our specific gear ratio, gives the rider the same pedal feeling as riding outdoors. The intensity of the workout is controlled with resistance and cadence (RPM). You can absolutely reach maximum heart rate with the flywheels on our bikes as long as you do it safely and in control, which is an integral part of our program. We recommend an RPM of heavier intensity between 60 and 80 for hills. Any slower tends to be hard on the joints. This is also why we recommend a cadence sensor or a SpinPower® crank to help you see your efforts and monitor your ride.

    Director STL, you can slide the handle bars forward. One aspect not discussed in the video was the slight bend in the elbow. You do not want to ride with your arms completely extended.

  • @tamibee17

    @nutellabanana, most indoor cycling bikes are compatible with the Shimano SPD system. If your cleats are too big you may have a size similar to the LOOK Delta cleats. If it's not too late you can probably see if the vendor has the smaller SPD cleat that will fit your cleats. Happy Spinning!
