@@grapesboss3735I’ve got 2 monitors and only one HDMI output on my 6900 XT, my main display is plugged into the GPU and the second is in the mother board and it works perfectly fine, I can still play games at 1440p with high settings. So I’d keep your main display plugged into your GPU along with any others you can plug in and the rest of the monitors plugged into the motherboard

​@grapesboss3735 if you need more ports, you can get a second gpu for more ports or use the integrated apu port from the motherboard. The system will use whichever gpu/apu you have selected as main to do the rendering and the other you set up as outputs. I advise against using 2 different brands, Nvidia and AMD have driver conflicts and cause stuttering.

@@o0Silverwolf0oI literally do that its handy when you need more then one hdmi or hell even a dvi port 😂😂😂 I would if the bios has it set the boot display to the pcie slot the gpu is in if you can but the 2nd gpu can be used I used the gt710 to speed up a optiplex a little with the igpu and dgpu working together and it worked

also make sure you have them at the highest refresh rate possible by going to advanced display settings, selecting the chosen monitor, scrolling down and selecting the highest number under "Refresh rate" ie 143.99hz 165hz 75hz etc.

As far as i noticed you can connect your monitor to the motherboard one, and in game you can select to use the nvidia Geforce to run it, just the only thing that happens is that the GPU will render the game but your IGPU will display it. So it has to be turned on! (This technique is used in laptop by the way, at least for the ones without MUX switch)

you could do that, but you lose performance that way because the GPU has to transfer the framebuffer across the PCIe bus to the CPU constantly for the iGPU to display it. It loses maybe 5-10% performance I think.

you can use both onboard and dedicated graphics card, however you need to enable it from bios (if supported)

I guess it is just by bad luck that ya may have issues with using dual monitor while using onboard graphics and gpu at the same time

with dvi being older (i think) it still has a millisecond or less input delay than the straight hdmi

and in doing so you're forcing the GPU to send the framebuffer across the PCIe bus to the CPU for the iGPU to spit out across its port. Multiple monitors on the same card doesn't give much of a performance hit, maybe like 2%. By doing it the way you've done it, you've left maybe 5-10% of performance on the table and have defeated your own stated purpose. But if you HAVE to connect that monitor with a VGA port, that is really your only reasonable option. Must be a really old monitor to have a VGA port and not HDMI or DP. Is it a CRT?

I got lucky and scored a laptop second display for next to nothing. It gets power and video from a single usb cord and works perfectly with my set up. It’s so small that I put it on a sliding mount so it tucks away when I don’t need it

HDMI and DP can be converted with adapters between each other. But preferably buy DP monitors because: 1. DP supports higher bandwidth aka refresh/resolution 2. DP can be daisy chained up to 4 monitors per port and thus the cable runs can be cleaner 3. because of #2 I'm confused why GPU manufacturers feel the need to include more than 1 or 2 DP? Maybe for a LOT of monitors, like 8 or something? How many does Windows support? All that being said I think the reason you only generally ever see 1 HDMI port is because manufacturers have to pay a licensing fee for every port; I think it's like $5. So you can see why they'd only want to include one.

@@floppydisk9382 idk never had an issue with digital signals misaligning sync, tbh neither have I ever had issues with VGA doing that but I've only ever hot swapped VGA on more modern GPUs (late 2000s laptop igpus mostly) w more modern displays
