I think stacked monitors are much better for very wide monitors, but side by side should work decently for smaller monitors

Exactly. Or you can use your smaller monitor as your primary and your ultrawide as your secondary and turn it sideways, it will look better since its an ultrawide so it being sideways will look better but in my opinion the stacks one look cooler and technically just better bcs lookin up is technically better than lookin right to left

my issue atm is i have 2 34" ultrawides and side by side its deffs a bit much and id love to stack them but one is an oled exclusvely for gaming and the other is a regular va dell gaming ultrawide for all my static content and work.. So its either side by side or i am staring up all the time while gaming, or staring up all the time while doing everything else lol

Or you could just have 3 monitors side by side with one abive as well for best of both worlds

I did stacked for awhile and it was pretty good. After awhile i needed to change it up, if i go back to stacked then i need to take the second monitor shelf off because stacked is better when the base sits lower and both screens are within eye leve so you dont look up very high, oh yeah cables...big reason i took the stack down cuz i didn't have the right lengths

I stack 2 27inch monitors and love it. Clears up more space and I dont use the top monitor constantly.

I've used side by side for years. Now I'm redoing my setup and might give stacked a try or go with once vertical.

I do see a lot of creators having stacked now a days! But I like side by side. 😮

I just switch from landcape to stacked, live it but remember that u cant have your monitor to high because then u will look up to much

I prefer side by side because neck and back pain, and if you have your pc on your desk it looks delicious

I use the stacked monitor arrangement because of space limitations in my room as I do live in a 400 sq feet apartment in Hong Kong with my M1 MacBook Pro.

i mean you can just have both if theyres no cost issue like it seems for you cause yyouve aready got 2 other vertical monitors so just add those dont always have to use it but still looks sick

I have both lol stacked and side by side, desk isn’t that long, so one is wall mounted, one is vertically sitting on the desk, and the third is horizontally on the desk, kinda nice a stack and then a side vertical 🤷‍♂️

Imo - if you’re doing art work or prefer playing games with three linked monitors, 3 in a row is best, but if you’re a streamer or just want a secondary monitor for KZread and such, stacked is better.

Now another question how high should your bottom monitor be from your desk? Is there a rule of thumb? I was told the top of the bottom monitor should be a little higher than your forehead not sure if that was true or not

Nah. I have the same. 34 inch UW and 27 inch up top. Top monitor for Google, KZread, music, game pages, stats, etc. I glance up to look and then back down. If I want to watch something up top I lean back in my chair away from the keyboard. Not a big deal if you aren't using it for productivity. If you only do work and will be looking up constantly then I'd avoid vertical. Setting your bottom monitor a little lower would help. His is a bit higher than mine. Getting a slimmer ultrawide secondary could help too. 27 inch ultra wide is a bit shorter than 27 inch 16:9.
