How To Set Your Third Axis At Full Draw: Black Gold Pro Series Sight

Check out our other gear reviews at backwoodspursuit.com/category...
In this video I show you how to set third axis at full draw on the Black Gold Pro Series sight. Third axis leveling should be done with a third axis leveling tool and after you have the 2nd and 3rd axis set with the bow in a vice (see our video on how to set 2nd and 3rd axis on a bow sight). The Black Gold Pro Sight adjustment process is very easy and straight forward, but needs to be followed in order to get your third axis set correctly. You want to make sure you go through the third axis leveling process at full draw and after you have completed the rest of the Black Gold Pro Sight instructions (see my other Black Gold Pro Sight setup videos) to make sure you hit where you are aiming. Setting up the third axis on a bow sight is fairly simple, but very critical for western hunting. In this video I am setting up the third axis on the Black Gold Pro Series Sight using the Hamskea Third Axis leveling tool to accomplish my third axis leveling. This process is a very important step in your Black Gold sight setup (and of course your setup on any other sight as well). This is just one of the videos where we bring your a series of compound bow shooting tips to help you be as accurate and efficient as you can!

At full draw is the best way. In the hands of the shooter and any changes in riser flex. Great video.

So, I’ve got a sight that doesn’t have 3rd axis adjustment. Of course, I need to go get one that does. BUT, if my bubble slides left as I draw down...and slides right..as I point up...does canting my bow to fix the bubble essentially correct the issue...or does that create new issue and also throws off my shot? Is there a way to compensate for the tilt? Or is one simply screwed if there are third axis issues? Curious what your thoughts are?

Thanks for the question! Canting your bow to compensate for the bubble being off will just cause you to miss left of right rather than fixing the problem. Really, to account for the third axis your sight needs to have that ability to adjust for it. Again, it's not an issue unless you are shooting up or downhill, but it can certainly cause a significant difference in impact point. Does that help? Thanks for watching!

Thank you :) Shouldn't everything be leveled in regards to the string and not the riser? Oftentimes the string won't be parallel to the riser.

Absolutely! I've always leveled to the riser and had good success that way. But... doesn't mean there's not another way to do it! I know I want my sight level to the riser since I'll be leveling the sight on the shot, and the sight is connected to the riser. Change my mind though! I'm always up for learning something new!

Do u sight your bow in first then adjust your 3rd axis? I had all my bowl just at first second and third but now it’s off again so I need to move it left and right

You don't have to sight in your bow before you set the 3rd axis. Doesn't hurt if you do though. Thanks for watching!

Great video thanks for the tips, my hamskey pro 2 comes in next week I'm going to setup my spot Hogg fast eddy 5 pin sight, a few day ago my string exploded on my bow, hood thing the bow didn't take any damage and my self, I got it on video u can check it out on my KZread, I have a question when I'm shooting out to 80 yards my fletching rub the sight housing on my spot Hogg, should I move the housing up or down?

Oh man, sorry to hear that! That's a bummer and glad you didn't get hurt. It's hard to say why your fletchings are hitting the sight housing at 80yds, but typically (in my experience) that would be caused by possibly a slower arrow speed because of a lighter draw weight and/or heavier arrow. 80yds might be all the clearance you've got with that setup. Other thing to check would be to make sure the peep is installed in the correct height on your string to make sure you are maximizing what you get out of your bow. The sight housing on the Spot Hogg sights is on the larger side as well, so that takes away a little clearance as well. Hope that helps a bit!

You did not say which way to adjust . If bubble is to the right do you adjust to the right .ifbubble is to the left do you adjust to the left

I'd have to go out and double check, but it's just like any of the other bubble adjustments.
