Black Gold Sight Setup: How to Set 2nd & 3rd Axis Black Gold Pro Sight

In the video I show you how to set the 2nd & 3rd axis on the Black Gold Pro sight. This Black Gold sight setup is similar to the Black Gold Verdict, Black Gold Ascent Verdict, and Black Gold Ascent Verdict Assault. The new Black Gold Pro Bow Sight features a new 1st axis adjustment screw, which makes it much easier to get dialed in. The Montana Black Gold Pro sight also features a new wing truss and quick release knob for removing the Black Gold Pro Sight. We aim to bring you compound bow shooting tips that help you get the most out of your Black Gold sight!
Montana Black Gold is known for making awesome bow sights with bright, durable pins and the new Black Gold Pro Sight is even better than previous models!

    Make sure you set the 3rd axis at full draw as well(check out the other video for that). I put together a video on getting the sight tape set up as well.... If you need any help getting that dialed. Feel free to comment with any questions along the way!

    Is there any play in the dovetail when tightened down on this sight. I've felt other dovetails with just the single point of contact to secure it and they have had some play.

    Thanks for the video! My sights just came in and I have that exact same level in the basement, so I'm getting ready to cut it into. lol What did you use to mount your bow in to get it to stand straight up like that?

    Awesome! Glad the video was helpful! I used this bow vice to hold the bow in place while working on it. amzn.to/2QJ7iJv I'd like to get an OMP vice (this one... amzn.to/3gu76bm) but it's a bit spendy! Good luck getting your sight all set up and thanks for watching!

    Is it ok to have the "sight bar" with the 8 or 9 threaded holes in it, and the two 1st axis adj. screws that tighten into it, moved to it's highest position?

    I was under the understanding that the third axis should be done under full draw to account for any tweak in the bow.

  • @BackwoodsPursuit

    @BackwoodsPursuit

    That is correct. This setup was done per the instructions to get you most of the way there, and we'll do a follow-up video showing how to check the third axis at full draw to make sure it's still level when at full draw.

    Nice explanation. It seems the buble can be adjusted separetely from the pin´s bunch. Doesn´t it makes inconsistencies?. Thank you.

  • @BackwoodsPursuit

    @BackwoodsPursuit

    Thank you! You are correct that the bubble can be adjusted separately from the pin housing. Being that pins adjust vertically, making sure that bubble is level with the riser keeps your pins lined up vertically. Is that what you were asking? If not, what did you mean for inconsistencies? Thanks!

    @@BackwoodsPursuit Ah, yes. I understand now. Thank you very much. And now I have another question about to establish this verticality: Is it better to use the riser or the string?.

  • @BackwoodsPursuit

    @BackwoodsPursuit

    @@juanantonioespinosa8816 I'd definitely use the riser rather than the string. That will give you the most consistent point to level off of. Don't hesitate to drop more questions here if you've got them! Happy to help!

    Is the only difference between the Mountain Lite 3 pin and the Ascent Verdict Assault 3 pin the micro adjust? If so, what site head would you recommend over the two? Thanks brother, dig the vids.

  • @BackwoodsPursuit

    @BackwoodsPursuit

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching! They are mostly the same site, but the Mountain Lite has the dual indicator and the lighter weight base. To my knowledge the pins etc are all the same. If the dual indicator is something you think you'd use, it's a cool site. If not, go with the Ascent Verdict for simplicity.

    @@BackwoodsPursuit Bought a new bow last week and the tech forgot during the rush to balance the 3rd axis. I was shooting ok, but not great. Not bad, just inconsistent. Anyway, I chalked it up to being a newbie. Regardless, I felt like it took a lot of effort to keep the sight on-target, if you know what I mean. When I took the bow in for D-loop and Peep sight adjustments this week, he remembered that he didn’t balance it and apologized. I gave the bow a test run yesterday and there is absolutely no question that it’s shooting much more accurate than previously. It’s also more comfortable to aim and I’m not having to fight to align and keep the pin on-target. The adjustment made much more difference than I would have previously considered. Thanks for your report.

  • @BackwoodsPursuit

    @BackwoodsPursuit

    That's great! Glad the tech got you all set up. Keep in mind that the 3rd axis only comes into play on steep uphill or downhill shots, but the 2nd axis is what is critical for your level shots (and of course cascades to your 3rd axis as well). Make sure to check your third axis at full draw as well to account for riser torque (see this video for that process... kzread.info/dash/bejne/c2R5tqSefKnfkqg.html ). Enjoy the new bow!

    You never set the first axis. You set two parts of the sight on the second axis, then you set the third axis. Lancaster Archery has a page explaining bow site axes clearer than most. 2:01 "And so now I'm going to go ahead and check the first axis."

  • @BackwoodsPursuit

    Thanks for clarifying. Your right... technically there are two second axis adjustments on this sight.... one for the housing and one for the slide. Should have clarified that.

    Thanks! Yeah, we did another video on setting your 3rd axis at full draw since that is the more accurate way to do that. This juat gets you close. Thanks for watching!
