How to set up an airless sprayer - Graco GXff

how to set up an airless sprayer
Basic connecting up of an airless sprayer.
Most are done the same way.
Be mindful that different brands may have a filter on the unit as well as in the gun that you can change and swap out if needs be with the suitable filter colour.
A good tip when cleaning out is flush a bucket of water through first, Then removed the filter to clean.. replace.. then flush two more buckets of clean warm water through the machine, hose and gun.
At the end.. check the filters again to see they've not picked up any last bits on them.
Use proper pump armour as a final rinse through if you're storing the unit for any length of time.
Year ago, before I knew about PUMP ARMOUR, I was told to flush some white spirt through the unit, as this would stop any rushing up as it would get rid of any last bits of water in the system/unit.
Make sure you rinse that out before you next use the set up though ;)

Walls I still cut in and roll. Wash coating is a no brainer though. Woodwork ... Try it. You'll be surprised. Get the paint right.. you'll be using something like a 210 tip and pressure could be low... Around 1000psi.

Great informative video. The extensions you use with the clean shot are they specific to your spray gun make ie a Greco gun it would be a Greco extension, a tri tech gun would it be a tri tech extension. I assume you can’t Inter mix. Lastly the clean shot I assume would fit ok with any of the above extensions. Cheers Phil.

Nope. The guns can take any Gaurd...and the matching spray tip. Then any extension can also fit... And a clean shot will fit any of my guns.

Phill great video..ime going to invest in one of these sprayers only used Compressor set up before. I've just watched another video you did about spraying bedroom furniture and mentioned how to get rid of a blockage I was wondering g is that because the paint is to thick..please don't blast me as I said never used airless before

  • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator

    @ProfessionalPainterDecorator

    Жыл бұрын

Glad I can help, blockage can be the smallest bit of paint skin that gets stuck in the tip, turn it around in the guard and blast it out. If the paint is too thick you can get a pimple effect, BUT..... too thin it will run if you apply too much.... lots to consider but you'll get it with practice. Don't spray too close.. it puts too much on.. too far away.. not enough ;) Too fast a movement, you don't put enough on... move too slow, you put too much on.

Great video Phil, I've watched it a few times. I pick up my GXFF in about a week, never used one before. Could you do a video on how you leave it on site overnight if ur using the same paint next day (ie, do you clean it or not) & how you clean it when ur putting it away after job completion including how you store your tips & guards Thanks in advance :)

  • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator

Hi, for how quick you can clean it out, it's a good idea to flush it through with water. If you do leave it over night, I turn the tip half way between spray and un block, that way the open orifice isn't exposed to any air. cover over the paint in the hopper and you will be ok over night. Hav eyou watch the videos in the airless play list on clean up and set up etc?

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I've just bought the tip saver paint kettle. Do u permanently keep the tips, guards & gun filters in the solution, or do u leave them in for 24hrs then take them out after a good soaking? Also, can I add a little water to the Wagner solution? It came with 2l but it's not quite enough to cover the top tray. Cheers again!
