CT1: Silicone Like a Pro with Expert Tips

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video takes us back to April 2024 when I attended Jewson Live on Tour at the NEC. While there, I had a conversation with Martin at the CT1 stand, and he demonstrated his product to me. I found it incredibly fascinating, so I've created a short video dedicated solely to showcasing the CT1 product once more. These are the types of products commonly used to achieve flawless results when sealing around baths, sinks, toilets, windows, and more. So, relax and learn what you need to achieve those perfect results yourself.

I know, so many have never heard of it as it's never NEXT TO CT1 when you buy it.

Been using ct1 and multi solve for around 15 years now, mate. Brilliant stuff. Multi solve is Brilliant for felt tip pens and the dreaded blue tack. The first time I saw it was on QVC or one of those selling channels All those years ago

Used the multi solve numerous times to tool Ct1 and it works very well for me. Have read the clear does go yellow thougu so I stuck to normal dow silicone when I needed clear in a bathroom

This stuff doesn't stick to gutters that well, whatever they say to you. Once the gutter moves few days later due to temperature contraction / expansions the CT1 seal will let go and it will sprung a leak (I've tested this multiple times). Also this stuff is the same as Soudal FixAll Flexi (in my experience), but the latter is 3 times cheaper. Soudal also doesn't try to sell you a can of 500ml magic degreaser for £15

I used CT 1 resilicone around my uPVC windows . It said to use white spirit to smooth and finish the product. Its a awful silicone to smooth out even with white spirit. It looked amazing for a couple of years . But now windows need resealing as it's gone rock hard and faded from it's colour. I still believe it's the best and hopefully when I get round to repainting my bay windows multi-solve will improve the finish and longevity of the product.

CT1 is good stuff but doesn’t stay white around showers, read the reviews on Toolstation, they actually do BT1 which is meant for bathrooms but I haven’t tried it. The multi solve is good for tooling up and also clean up if you get in a mess and it also works with OBD1 and Works sealant if you prefer them. Keep up the good work Phil.

Fantastic as an adhesive, especially externally. Would never use it (again) as a finished silicone as it doesn't take long before the colour goes, and proper silicones are a little easier to tool. Have found that some water based paints, like masonry, struggle to cover it without crazing even days after it's gone off, and have resorted to spraying it with cover stain first. Tried their PGB Tribrid a little while ago, the grab was insane.

I try to avoid silicone when painting inside as it doesn’t adhere to silicone. This product may be different. As for the tooling spray I would make sure when silicone is applied make sure it touches both surfaces as if you have a gap and the spray goes into the gaps it’s not touched it will fail maybe not straight the way.

Their data sheet doesn't state you can use it as a smoothing agent 👀😬 i just cant understand this logic, disolves old silicone and yet he's saying to apply it directly to ct1 thats not been cured? Unless it doesnt work on old ct1? On the face of it though, this seems worse than the washing up trick myth 🙈

I think this is much worse than fairy liquid. He just went straight on a round bead with it and smoothed it with his finger (not tooled out the excess) so surely this won't stick on sides.

I used CT1 to install the track for my shower screensin my wet room and it hasnt moved an inch in years now. So strong. But i will say, it is NOT mould resistant, so not the best idea for a bathroom. The clear also yellows fairly fast too.
