How to Set Snaps in Leather
Learn to use the Dritz Snap Setting Pliers to set Snaps in Leather. This technique also works with other fabric and denim!
Please note I am using rather thin leather in this video - leather which was salvaged from an old handbag (you can see a tutorial for that here:

Want to set snaps in thicker leather, like a leather jacket or motorcycle vest?? Visit JewelryTutorialHQ.com/how-to-s... for more info!

I suffered thru several videos on this topic then I found this one! Jessica shows each of the 4-parts to a snap, shows where to put each one in the pliers, and shows you the finished product! Excellent! Thank you, Jessica.
can I use plastic snaps on these pliers
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much 😊

Thank you! You were able to teach an old dog a new trick.
they sell these kits everywhere- BUT could you please recommend the best solution for for installing snap rivets on hats- in my case for newsboy cap brims. Tool needs to be able to go through the sturdy plastic brim and the top/bottom layers of fabric obviously. I know they sell kits everywhere but I need to make sure I can comfortably be able to go through the sturdy plastic piece and fabric without too much struggle.
Hi. Where can I get a strong snap button tool?
Thank you. Now can snaps on shirts and baby clothes.
Found this old Dritz Plier with snaps and instructions on package not helpful. You explained it very well. Thank you. Great tutorial.
That was Awesome Thanks

I am making a new boat cover. The material where the snaps go is fairly thick and the canvas fasteners I am using don't work very well. The stud is not long enough. What other options would work? Thanks

+James Snyder Great question! I don't have any experience working with thicker fabric but I found this video. The guy makes a hole before installing the snaps, then he uses this tool (which is kind of pricey but it looks like it works really well: amzn.to/23r2JTP) That could possibly help you! kzread.info/dash/bejne/i61lo9CEZJOoZNo.html Good luck!
Thank you, this was very helpful! :D

I would like to know if I can use this same procedure to replace the snap/grommet on a watch?
@JewelryTutorialHQ

Hi Kathy! I believe the procedure should be the same though it might be more difficult if the leather is very thick. If that's the case you might want to use a snap set and hammer instead of these pliers. Also, if you do use pliers, make sure they will fit the snap or grommet that you need!

+JewelryTutorialHQ thank you
Can this particular tool also be used for grommets?

+ODragon11 I'm honestly not entirely sure - I can't find the info that came with my pliers! There is a 'plier kit' that comes with both eyelets and snaps and has different attachments to use depending on which you want to apply. But Dritz also has a grommet plier which might be better. (Don't really know what the official difference between eyelets and grommets is? Maybe just the size.) Anyway, if you want to check them out, here is the plier kit: amzn.to/1P7aMxG And here is the grommet tool: amzn.to/1P7auH8 I hope that helps. Thanks for stopping by!

how do you remove them..?

+Erin P Honestly, I'm not sure! I've never needed to remove them. I'll have to see if I can figure that out + let you know!
Why didn't you laminate the bracelet...since its leather...then you can wipe it down... If when before you do the pressing to add the snap on button...if instead you fold the leather then do the snap that can also help decorate and keep your braid down without braiding nor stitching....etc.
I don’t have a yellow side they’re both white. 🤔
