I appreciate getting a look at the Smokey and the Jumbo side by side. I have a Smokey but I’m thinking of buying the Jumbo. Thanks for the great video.

If you haven't bought the Jumbo Joe yet I highly recommend you take a look at the SnS Travel Kettle. Amazing 18 inch kettle to take on the road.

I take a slightly different approach to a burn off on any kettle. I agree manufacturing oils and chemicals need to be burned off, but I feel that coating with oil first, before burning them off is counterproductive. I heat up to 250/30 minutes, 350/30 minutes, and 450+ /30 minutes. Then I just cook a bunch of chicken they will produce enough oil to season the clean surface. They’re painted with hardened enamel paint, and rust is not the same issue as with an all steel (no coating) offset.

You know mate ... it's a lot easier and faster just to wash the damn things with detergent and hot water. Givem a good scrub and rinse off. Jobs done !! You can start COOKING !!!

You should modify your Smokey Joe like other KZreadrs as well. 🙂 They grill a hole and add a thermometer plus buy the legs of Smokey Joe Premium to make Smokey Joe hold the lid. 🙂

Thanks for the video that was an awesome video I have a question I noticed you didn’t use lighter fluid that was pretty cool did you end up using lighter fluid or is that good enough the way you made the fire

I have never used lighter fluid. Just a fire starter cube and a chimney 15 minutes and I’m good to go.

Can you please let me know if the actual cooking grate size on the Jumbo Joe is Actually 18 inches? I bought a Slow n Sear 18 inch Travel Kettle and the grate measures just over 17 inches. If I put an actual 18 inch grate on the Travel Kettle, the lit can't even close. If the Jumbo Joe has an Actual 18 inch Cooking Grate, I'm dumping my SnS Travel Kettle and buying a Jumbo Joe. Thank you in advance for your help. I really appreciate it!!

When cooking on them do you leave the bottom vent wide open? Just recently purchased one and getting ready to start cooking on it. Thank you

that happens when you load it up with too much charcoal and the open vents can't supply enough air. only use enough charcoal to cover the grate with a single layer and you'll have no problems.

Olive oil is pretty much the worst choice for seasoning anything. You want something with a higher smoke point - which corn oil certainly has

Isn't that just a waste of time? Why not wash the grill really well, and save a lot of time an aggravation. I guess if you have plenty of free time to waste, then that's great.

You are wasting your time. Weber's are enamel coated. They don't need seasoning like a smoker.
