    I like your video. I have a regular Smokey Joe as well as a 22" kettle. Used the kettle for all kinds of grilling for 45 years. Got the Smokey Joe for the smaller cookouts. I love them both.

    So roughly how many coals would you light off for burgers... What about chicken thighs how many coals would it take... I'm guessing 20-30 coals for chicken and maybe 15 for burgers, what is your advise for someone who may be trying to get a handle on the proper amount of coals with regards to the meat their grilling... This seems to never be discussed and would benefit the beginners... The small grills are ideal for a single person or a couple where you really don't need the larger kettle... Great take along for camping and the beach... Enjoyed the video...

    Great video! Do you like the side vent system? I know the normal Smokey Joe had just one 3-hole vent on the bottom instead of the two side vents on the SJP. Have you had any issues keeping the coals lit?

  • @antstill_bbq

    @antstill_bbq

    6 ай бұрын

    I would prefer a bottom vent honestly. It is tough to keep the coals lit. I usual have to tilt the top lid to let air in. But I like that the ash is contained on the SJP.

  • @haydenwilliams7202

    @haydenwilliams7202

    6 ай бұрын

    Makes sense. With the SJP, the air would be going over the coals as opposed to being drawn through the coals with a bottom vent.

    Yessir it's a quick twist of a wing nut and they're off. But it has such a small footprint that you can throw it on the backseat or the trunk without doing that. Weber has a special carrying bag for it too for like $20 but I'm being cheap.

  • @antstill_bbq

    @antstill_bbq

    4 жыл бұрын

    Overall it's been good. The items I've cooked on it were burgers and hot dogs which requires minimal time at high heat. So keeping it hot for a long time wasn't my issue. With that being said though if I needed more heat and opening the vents fully didn't do the trick then I recommend having a chimney on standby to fire up some charcoal if the fire starts dying down.

    If you could get a skillet or a grittle, or even a pizza stone that could fit inside without completely covering the grates, I don't see why you couldn't. I seen a guy do it on a 22 inch weber.
