Use clear plasti dip for 1 or 2 of the coats . Its a game changer. It makes it to where you can handle your waterside decal without it tearing easily.

Good afternoon! We have heard some of our other customers mention they like to seal with Rustoleum then finish with one or two coats of the Plasti Dip as well. :)

I made some decals for painted wood items. I sprayed them with Krylon triple-thick clear glaze. The first one I used was fine, but then I had to take a break for several months to deal with some things, and when I got back to applying the decals, they all cracked. Is there a way to salvage them, or should I start over, and spray them just before using?

Good afternoon, Sorry to hear your decals cracked. I use Rustoleum 2X Clear and can use decals that have sat for a bit of time. Maybe try sealing them one more time prior to using, but with your sealant you may need to print them and start again. However, I would say try giving them a new fresh clear coat and see if that works prior to starting over. Let us know how it goes. :)

@@HayesPaperCo Well, spraying the decals again (I did two coats) did the trick! Thank you! I used the Krylon spray, since I still have some. The only thing that was different from any other application I've ever done, was that the decals shrank a little while soaking in the water. But it didn't affect my project, I was just happy that I can use the decals I've already made. I will be switching to the Rustoleum 2X Clear for future projects.

Hello, I am getting ready to order some of the decal paper for inkjets and i want to use this in my journal, do you recommend this, I was hoping i could lay the decal down then spray with water to remove the backing, do you think this is possible?

Are these sprays the same as a gloss varnish?

Hi Daniel, Varnish is different. You need to use a clear acrylic spray to seal inkjet waterslide decals, we have recommendations of products we have tested on our blog post, I'll add the link: www.hayespaper.com/blogs/blog/the-best-clear-sealants-to-use-on-waterslide-decal-paper

Is this always required? Because I printed on the paper and let the decals sit for about an hour and when I'm ready to use, I dip them in water, but as soon as they come up from the water the ink disappears and runs off the page! What am I doing wrong?

Yes it is required to spray with clear coat for every decal waterslide papers

We use three coats of Rustoleum 2X Clear. The glossy finish was used in this video.

Is ok to use matte instead of glossy?

@@143Mikay yes definitely. Rustoleum 2X clear, matte, semi gloss or glossy are all acceptable to use.

how long do u let it dry before cutting and applying to your cup

@@samanthacapetillo5427 Here in Texas things dry pretty fast. I will let it sit until it is completely dry to the touch with no stickiness.
