Aw, thanks! In case you didn't know, on KZread videos you have the option to slow them down or speed them up so the pace works for you. Click the little Settings gear and set your playback speed.

another thing I didn't know and should have.....thank you. More importantly than the speed was your presentation. It was easy to follow, and spelled everything out (with pictures) which was a tremendous help. Most vidoes "assume" people know where things are (settings for example) when us ancient folks don't. I have a canon mg5520, which is both a printer and a scanner however it only appears as a printer on my Mac. so while I can print easily, I am unable to scan even though the canon is both a printer and scanner.

Once you get the hang of it, Macs are pretty wonderful! I use both. Not too late to switch, I promise!

I have assembled multiple pictures onto 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper in order to scan into the computer. There are 22 pages. I would like them in a folder because I will have an office supply store to print them out for collage purposes. Will putting them into a PDF and checking the combine into a single document work? This video is a big help, thank you.

It should. My first reaction is that photos should be scanned as JPEGs, but your way would be faster and easier. Just make sure you are scanning at a high-ish resolution if you want good quality (althought that will make the file much bigger, fair warning).

I have Epson Stylus 445W printer & Scanner. Previously I was using MacBook pro version 10 and on the printer & scanner widow, the scan option was also present. Since I have connected the printer with MacBook prob Version 12, the scan option (tab) in the window of the printer & scanner has gone missing. When I try to scan any document, I get a warning message about communication error asking to connect the PC to the scanner. I would appreciate it if you could please guide me on how to get the scan tab back on the relevant window.

Sounds like you have the wrong driver for the printer. I would check epsons website and make sure that printer is supported on MacOS 12. You could also try deleting and re-adding the printer to see if you get an updated driver.

Terrific video and a wonderful speaking voice. I have a Mac with a Canon MG6220 printer scanner combo. I can print all day long but the scanner option is not showing up on my Mac and I've just tried everything I can find on the Internet to resolve this problem. any ideas? anyhow thank you for posting a terrific tutorial!

That's an older printer so it may not be possible with the Mac software; Canon has a scanning app of their own, which MIGHT work--check their support website.

on my Mac I don't get the scan option, but my moms Mac has the scan option even though we are hooked up to the same printer? I have a newer MacBook than she does too. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a driver issue. Try deleting and re adding the printer, or use the manufacturer app ( like hp smart) as a last resort

Is there a way I can open the scanner directly without first passing through the printer window?

Depends on the printer. Some companies make a scanner app that lets you do that but I prefer not to install extra s/w, it's just an extra click or two.

I'm totally following, thank you. My issue is when I open scanner I get a "failed to open a connection to the device -21345" error code. My scanner is not "seen" by my mac but it prints just fine (same device). What's that all about? It won't even do it when it's hard wired!!!!! Frustrating

Check the “scan to “ setting, that’s how you specify the destination folder for the scan. I recommend using the desktop in the video but you might have saved it somewhere else. Use Finder or Spotlight search to find it.

Easiest is probably to try deleting it and then re-adding it and see if it installs with the scanner; if not, you might need to get a driver from the manufacturer.

On the scanning part of the printer. Either the glass (face down) or, if your printer has one, the document feeder (usually face up).

Check the source settings, sounds like you are trying to scan from the glass but the scanner is using the document feeder.

Sounds like it's not installed properly. Try deleting and re-adding it in the printer panel, or check the manufacturer's website for a driver (that's the software the explains to the computer how to use the printer).

True. That's only an option IF you select PDF as the document type; if you do, you will then see an additional checkbox for combining multiple pages. IF you check that box, you will be prompted to add pages after the first scan.

The ink tank system appears to be much better than the cartridge system kzread.infoUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 and a lot cheaper to run. The machine was easy to set up. A small point but I thought they'd be a USB cable included to help with the set up but there was none. I've been using it now for a few weeks and it seems like a good product and superior to my previous printers which were all troublesome HP machines.

Mac now has a "hide details", "overview" and "cancel" buttons. I do not know why some fool of a software writer has chosen to remove the scan button from the available menu but it makes it very hard to actually scan. Surely, a button marked "SCAN" would be a default for a system designed to scan a document.

Useless video: if for your printer you see a "scanner" option click it - of course! But what if you don't see a scan option even though your printer is also a scanner?

Then you need to install the full driver not only the printer driver. This will download the scanner driver too
