Nate and Pete, I love watching videos of you guys race. As a bigger guy myself I like seeing what tactics you use and want to use those to help myself, it's pretty darn inspirational. Keep em coming!

Love the breakdown. Trainerroad subscriber, and swear by its abilities. This just helps when we get on to the track. I raced tonight in Austin at the Driveway Series, and then coming home and watching this is like keeping me in the groove... It is jamming! Keep this up.

I love this race. That post-climb view on the left when you have the long descent is the best. And it’s always a fight out of the gate bc once you are out of sight you can stay gone for the full race.

Clarification: I'm not a racer. But shouldn't you try to soft pedal at least during some of these descents? Especially if you can put out like 30-40% FTP, maybe even just 50W on a manageable cadence. It shouldn't be more tiring than freewheeling and from what I remember helps reducing lactate buildup. I bet Coach Chad himself might list some of the benefits. Clarification 2: Can't tell if you'd have spun out on these occasions.
Wow. Nate stronk.
Good video
Need more videos these things are the best 🤣

More videos are in the works!
I think the reason why professional cycling as a spectator sport isn't as popular as us cycling fans hope it could be is that you really have to have videos like this explaining the intricacies of the "moves" that pro-cyclists make during the race, but people rarely can make these explanations interesting. TrainerRoad guys are really doing a fantastic job!

Great video! It would be great to include the %gradient in the metrics display.
@TrainerRoad
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! While we don't have plans to add more metrics currently, this could be a useful addition for footage of really hilly events. We really want to avoid over-crowding the screen with non-essential data, but we'll keep it in mind!
Would of loved to see your cadence while climbing
Very cool. What kind of camera/software are you using to get your data on the video like that?
@TrainerRoad
5 жыл бұрын
We're using GoPro cameras and Garmin devices to capture the data.
Is this what you would classify as a rolling road race such as the workout plans?
NIce camera view..! w Which camera do you use..? Can you use it for livestream..?

@@TrainerRoad No doubt! But you get a do-over at the next hilly one :)
what was up with the guy who just beat you swerving across your line right before the finish? Looks like he was looking back right before he did that,.
@ryanodell1207
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Bradley, when I watched this I wondered the same thing. After looking back, I knew I had some space so I put my head down and must have sacrificed a little bit of control for any additional power I could muster up. Also, every stroke of the pedal felt like a punch to the gut at the end there, so it was probably just sloppiness on my part. I guarantee I had no intention to impede Nate's line. Hopefully it's not interpreted that way.
Is there a reason you coast downhill? I mean, above say 40mph or so I guess, but I always at least soft pedal through rollers, not on the gas but just a little pressure, and always find I keep my momentum going a lot better. Also 198cm and starting to get fairly lean at 100kg, so that momentum at the bottom of a hill is kinda important. Of course, if you get stuck behind someone then it sucks...
@TrainerRoad
5 жыл бұрын
Matthew Jenkinson in this race I was coasting into the back of the field and hitting the brakes, so no reason to pedal (except for the final downhill 😢)

@@TrainerRoad Yeah, that makes sense.
So Nate just what is your weight for this race? Just curious what you guys consider “a heavy rider”.
@TrainerRoad
3 жыл бұрын
For some context, Nate is a 'big' guy at 6'6", so heavy rider refers more to your build and stature than a number. We'd hate to throw a number out there that perpetuated body-negativity when every rider is built so differently! ;)
@ImGlossy63
3 жыл бұрын
@@TrainerRoad wow Nate is 6’6”??? Only seen him seated in podcasts, doesn’t come across as 6’6”, so the “heavy rider” makes sense now. I’m also 183, so get the heavy label as I get that a lot also.

What’s SAG climbing?
@TrainerRoad
5 жыл бұрын
Sag climbing is when a rider starts at the front of the pack, but slowly drifts backwards over the course of a climb. This allows the rider to have an effectively slower time up the hill, but still remain in contact with the group.

good content but you guys are the most monotone, boring sounding talkers ive ever heard. maybe write down your thoughts and have someone more competent deliver the content.
I watch quite a few of these Cali races and enjoy them except for the excessive commentary. Reminds me of a NBC golf telecast Dan Hicks or someone similar who just never shuts the fuck up. Yea, you're riding, not brain surgery, yea you're going down catching a draft and moving up; ok again pretty common, nearly everyone on the road knows about. I mean I'm stuck in a Midwest winter and want to watch riders. Watch the beautiful scenery the sound of the wheels, maybe road conversations, AND some pertinent insightful commentary (maybe 1/5 of what you're presenting). Let the ride speak. Let the numbers speak. let your performance speak. I remember watching Sagan destroy the field in paris roubaix. I mean he broke away from the pack gapped up to the break-away and kept a constant speed of 30MPH all the way in!! No need for commentary. You're talking about saving an ounce of breath here and there like it's life saving were it's all pretty meaningless. Save your voice and get stronger legs; breakaway for 10 miles then come back and blab all day Hey; besides all my bitching keep up the good work :)

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback! We agree that there are probably better videos for mid-ride entertainment/ motivation out there on KZread, but our goal is to provide actionable takeaways that our viewers can then apply during their races. The commentary is designed to explain each and every choice we make to help our viewers develop a better "intuition" and help them to read their races more successfully. If you'd like to cut out the commentary, watching the rides on mute could be the ticket :)
