Your podcasts are great guys. Ut these videos are awesome! Thanks for the insights.

Peacocks, you gave me a new term. I've gone off the front like that a few times a few times, I know I can't stay off the front, but I also know they won't chase me down, as the rest of the pack knows I'm no threat to win or stay off the front.

sell them to a non-drafting triathlete - we don't really ever do 500 watts in a race :)
Surely hanging out off the back puts you at a high risk if the field splits?
Average 321 watts for an hour? Mad! That's nearly threshold for me!

Given how you ride 210 lbs shocks me. How tall are you?
you keep taking that left hand turn tight inside, I would think you should be able to carry more speed outside and still be in a good position for the next right-hander. Isn't it better to conserve speed than position?

Thanks for the question reflections detail! Race strategy is never perfectly cut and dry, and there are certainly multiple approaches that can be successful. If you'd like to discuss specific details discussed in this video, we have a community discussion designed specifically for that purpose in our Forum :) You can view this discussion here: forum.trainerroad.com/t/how-to-race-if-youre-not-a-sprinter-race-analysis/12171 Cheers!
Thank you, TrainerRoad! Please include an overlay of kph in your future videos. Cheers!

Both mph and kph 👍
@ClockCutter
5 жыл бұрын
You find it hard to make the simple conversion of mph to kph, do you? 1 mile = 1.6 kilometers. For those who are mathematically challenged, you can get a very close approximation by taking one half of the original speed in mph and add it to one tenth of the original speed in mph, assuming you are at least adept enough to work with the easy fractions of 1/2 and 1/10, and then add this sum to the original speed. So, to convert 30 mph to kph, add 15 to 3, which is 18, and then add 18 and 30. 30 mph is approximately 48 kph. Should you be both mathematically challenged and routinely anal, requiring a precise conversion, you should resort to a mechanical devise, like a simple calculator, or, better yet, just STFU.

TrainerRoad sorry forgot to ask earlier. With crit racing would you say it’s power based or is cadence important too. A course like on this video what sort or gearing 53/39 🤔
@carlmons
5 жыл бұрын
You mean 'tubulars' or clinchers... tubeless are just clinchers without tubes. Tubulars all the way, except on a training, tri or mountain bike. No clincher can match a comparable tubular for acceleration.
@simoF6
5 жыл бұрын
carlmons yeah I guess it would tubulars for crit. I actually run tubeless on mine - the roads were I live can be pretty bad and we get a lot of flats with plain old clinchers with tubes. I’ve had tubeless on since May 18 and haven’t a flat since. Tubeless is becoming really popular- note not all rims can run tubeless though. 👍
Move back to Colorado and teach me how to push that power homie

What we aren't hearing in the audio is likely the moto announcing that they're passing with a LOT of honking. The moto officials are usually very good about that. ;)

Have you ever sprinted with SPDs? I run mine at near minimum release tension and I’ve never unclipped during a sprint. Just crank up the release tension and you’ll be fine.
You could just as easily titled this video ‘how to race’, given that almost no one is actually a sprinter in the truest sense.
