    Really strong efforts (as usual) out there. Lots of good tactical advice in this video, but I would figure out what works for you. A sprinter working a break and a big power rider will ride the break differently depending on their strengths and how they can set themselves up to win. That's a deceptively hard course to stay away on.

    At the end, when you’re smoked and tell the guys that you’re done and will take third, would it have been better to pull through, even if only for 5 sec? In theory, they would have seen you were toast and it may have prevented the massive slowdown that allowed the peloton to catch you?

    youre looking for changes in position, tension in the arms and back, hips rising, anything that indicates theyre about to attack. its a little rough on the gopro footage because you cant see the 1st of the 2 riders who go but the signs are there if youre looking for them. even a 1 second faster response adds up and can make a big difference

    What do you guys mean by a "sustainable pull"?

  • @cameronking1872

    @cameronking1872

    4 жыл бұрын

    I believe what they mean is if you have to make a pull, Do a pull where you can easily sustain the tempo and not over exerting yourself in any way. Still keeping the pace fast, But not wasting all your energy by doing the pull. Make it a sustainable effort you know you can keep with moderate effort and keep the pace not top speed, But also not slow enough where riders are going to start attacking on you.

    @@cameronking1872 So cycle at a moderate pace. I am assuming a Pull means a sprint of some sort.

  • @cameronking1872

    @cameronking1872

    4 жыл бұрын

    Spencer Godspeed A pull means various things, But most often, A “pull” is taking your turn as the lead in a pace line or train if you will. That is what they are talking about when referring to pulls in this video. You are “pulling” the others along as you’re in lead as they are getting to sit behind you sucking up your draft. You can also do a pull to bridge a gap if there’s a breakaway up the road. Those will have sprint efforts in them sometimes but 9/10 times if you decide to close the gap and you make the move. others will follow in your draft to get a free ride hence letting you do a pull and pull them along with you. A sustainable pull is not directly implying a sprint, A sustainable pull is like I said, Taking your turn in the lead and doing a pull, But not doing this pull at max effort. You shouldn’t be doing a pull of you’re in a big group. Let other people lead and take advantage of the draft. Pulls are only necessary if you find yourself in a motivated breakaway, You know? So, Yes, High end moderate pace. If you are on the front and you are not pulling hard enough or going to slow, The riders behind are going to attack on you and you’ll be left behind and have to do a big effort to get back on their wheel and in the train. You don’t want to make the speed to fast and pull too hard because when you decide your pull is over the same thing will happen. It’s gonna be hard for you to get back in the pace line after having just wasted huge energy by doing a max effort pull and once again you’re gonna struggle to get back on a wheel. Gotta find that happy medium in between. Hope this helps

    Looks like power meters useless during such races - the only thing needed is to have similar FTP and rotational acceleration energy looses - it could be interesting to see TT bikeman racing with similar output power effort ;)
