An old classic. It is a fond memory of my dads old Craftsman drill.

My dad had one as well. It seemed to find something to do every weekend.

You did a real nice job cleaning it up and restoring it. Great job!

Thanks! This is a keeper for me and something I'll actually use from time to time.

As usual you get old power tools working like new! The drill is like my Dads in early 70s. Keep up the good work Matt!

Not only have I seen Sears drills like this, I have seen the Sears stores they came from. 😁

So unfortunate what happened to Sears. When the store near me was closing I went in and bought an electric impact gun and a Craftsman Sawzall for 75% off. Likely they will not last as long as this drill but they have served me well so far.

I knew you'd get that drill to function. I had one like it when I bought my house in the late 60's and it was virtually indestructible.

I agree. These were still being built to last a lifetime in the 1970's and a lot of them did. Even the power cord on this one has lasted 50 years.

Thanks! I almost want to preserve it but I found myself using it over the weekend. Interesting that a few people who have seen it want to buy it now. Nope! :)

My father had the exact same drill. He kept all his tools very clean. When he passed I wound up with all his tools. After 20 years in my possession the drill motor went out. I could not throw it away so I found one on Evil Bay in working condition and swapped the motor and Dad's drill still runs now. Can post a photo if you want.

Wow! That drill must have seen a lot of use to wear it out. Usually it's just cleaning or brushes. I'd love to see a photo of another one. Please send it along.

Would it be possible to get a video of your toolbox collection and what tools are inside?

I'll put it in the que if you think it'd be interesting. I'm working on building a workshop so when that's done I'll be reorganizing everything. That would be a good time to shoot it. Recently I bought a massive toolbox haul and I've yet to find room for them all. Good problems to have, of course. :)

Can someone please tell me how to remove the chuck on this model? Mine is the exact same model as his and I know there is a screw on the inside to be taken out, and I’m spinning it counter clockwise, but nothings happening. Can someone please help me out?

In my Disston drill video at around the 24 minute mark you'll see how to remove the chuck. It involves an allen wrench and a hammer. I just looked at mine and i see what you mean but I don't think that flathead screw looking mark has anything to do with it. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.
