How to replace Toyota RAV4 cabin air filter
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
it's recommended to replace Toyota RAV4 2014 cabin air filter every 15,000 miles or ones a year.
Dealers can charge you as much as $70 (before tax) to do it for you. You can buy brand new OEM cabin air filter online for $10 and replace by yourself in 5 minutes.Watch this video to learn how.
Important: Air flow direction is from the top down. Follow filter installation manual to determine top side of the filter.

Shouldn’t arrow go down since air or being sucked into the blower motor?

It depends what arrow indicates ( air flow direction or filter orientation inside housing). Air flow is from the top down.

Thank because I’m at the dealership now they want to charge me 59.00 dollars smh.
Thank you for taking some time and doing this video for us. Much appreciated
And changing air filters is something else the dealers rip you off on. And they are really easy to install yourself

Yup & that's the price of ignorance... the penalty of not knowing one's item of daily use! Basic Auto shop class should be strongly advised, if not mandatory, for drivers!

Boy does that look easy compared to the 1996 Olds Park Ave, I was under the dash for 2 hours and never did get the whole thing in there. But at least I got a bag of leaves out of it !

Thanks for showing the details. Before I saw your video, I lost the dampener behind the glove box panel since it is not fastened. I was able to retrieve since I saw your video. I prefer the filters with charcoal being more sensitive to fumes and odors.
It's self explanatory if you have done it before. The point of these helpful videos is to use audio and video to assist us in projects. I used another video with audio included, and it was a breeze, and yes, there are problems that can occur if you don't follow the instructions. Not major issues, but problems that can be a bit flustering...
Bad smells coming from mine, found a dead mouse inside! Thanks for the help.
I just paid $21.99 for an air filter and $8.00 for labor and $21.99 for cabin filter and $19.95 for labor at the dealership... they got me but didn't feel like going to auto part store. But I will nxt time
was easy to do and I can't believe how nasty the old filter was!
So why did you put the new filter in upside down. If it said up next to the arrow then you did it right but if it said air flow, air flow is down, not up. We couldn't tell by your silent video what it said.
I got the same exact filter and did this the same way but now I keep getting white stuff blow out for 8 seconds every time I turn on my ac after a while of it being off. Any thoughts?
Thank you. Exactly as the manual says...but on my 2015 I seem not to have that support piece on the right side I am afraid to squeeze the sides and pull for fear of breaking/cracking the nubs. Please advise one .

Dan m changed 3 filters on 3 tabs recently 1 for 2012 n 2 for 2013. What I did was I squeezed one side first to remove stub inwards then did other side to do the same. Yep I felt the same as you do. 1 rav was missing a support piece but still worked fine
Yeah, grab a filter on Amazon for about $10. They have guides to pick for your make and model car.
Got a super tech and have no clue which way the arrow is pointing on the filter. Does anyone know?
I've been getting a ticking sound from the blower fan on the passenger side...do you know if the fan is accessible from just removing the glove box?

question is the arrow should go up or down? the original cabin filter is with an up arrow while the new one I put on tells to have the arrow pointing down from the instruction. Which I should conform to?
@XRinger
6 жыл бұрын
I've changed air filters on HVAC stuff and the arrow on the side of all the filters, always pointed in the direction of the air flow.. So, if you pull out the old filter and the TOP of it has leafs and rocks dirt on it, that's the dirty air input side.. Meaning the air flow is downwards.. Meaning your arrow should be pointing down, in the direction of the air flow.. Logically that is.. :)

Should be down on aftermarket filters. I.e. the direction of airflow
@njsongwriter
4 жыл бұрын
Probably down. They usually say "airflow" on them. If they say nothing it's difficult to be sure.
You install aftermarket filters with the arrow facing the direction of air flow, the only ones you install with the arrows up are the OEM Toyota cabin air filters 🤦🏻♂️
