Axle Nut torque correction: 118 ft. lbs.
This video shows you how to install new, quality TRQ ball joints on your 2009-2020 Dodge Journey. Car and truck suspensions combine a number of moving parts for safe and stable handling. The ball joint is the crucial moving component that ties those parts together. The ball-in-socket joint can wear out and loosen over time. Or, the rubber protective boot can tear, allowing contaminants to seize the joint. Bad ball joints are a common failure point on vehicle inspections because they lead to unsafe driving conditions. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to replace with the right know-how.

You can't do this without taking the knuckle and everything attached to the knuckle off?

this is case and point how NOT do do a job.. this is the 'I know a guy that can do it cheaper. he totally caved in the upper caliper mount, and the backing plate holes, you can see 11:30 where they are smashed in from being pounded on. then they dont show the part until after it looks like its been drilled out 12:25.. he holds his finger over the upper backing plate hole to hide this fact, and doesnt even install the 3rd bolt because the hole is too damaged 13:10. you can also clearly see the caliper hole has been drilled out. 14:18 verifies the backing plate bolt is missing. what a joke.

Wow! That is a major operation. Everything came apart so easily. No salt where you are. Did you grease it? Never knew there were grease fittings on those.

If you put the socket on the vice pad and then hit it with the five lb hand held press.

Anyone know how hard (scale 1-10) to just know the ball joint out with a hammer (an a little heat) instead of using an air chisel?

Fastest way to fuk up a tie rod is to hit it on the threads like that!!! Obviously this guy is NOT a mechanic.

I’ve done this job twice and the worst part was taking the ball joint out and putting it back in. One time the edge if the cup he uses to push the rim of the ball joint in caught on the sleeve and cut it. Had to do it all over again. This has a specialty tool you cannot rent anywhere and you can buy it for a ridiculously high price. Long story short, terrible design. Never buy this car. You have one? Sell it and buy any other car. Another common issue: P2004. Once comes around, never leaves.

I would not let this person touch my vehicle. He beats on threads, does not use proper tools and damages components. This is incorrect instalation. A shop press is always preferred over beating on cast parts with a hammer.
