Thanks! 2022 zT1 46”, used this method (15/16ths) and installed my blades in like 5 minutes! Thanks again, much appreciated!
Had to change mine today, ran into the same wrench problem, got a 1/2” driver bit and it was a snap. Thanks for the vid!
Thanks for the info. I read directions on another site and it said that you had to disconnect the deck. Then slide it out and flip it to take the blades off. This is much simpler.
Good video shwed me what i needed thank you
Great video, It's help me a lot ....thanks
Great info!!
Thank you in good job explaining👌🙂
Just curious of your model # on your mower? My mower is a 2022 ZT2 54" but mine has the S-hole blades. I want to convert my spindles back to the star pattern such as yours because there is so much better blade selection for those style blades. My older cub had the 6 point star pattern. Cant find any S-hole blades that are thicker, right now i have change my blades twice a season. Such a head ache and the blades are $100🤯
Nice
Hello thank you for posting video. It was Very helpful. I have a never used a impact driver…and I have a question regarding the socket. Can any brand be used on the impact driver? I was going to order the impact driver you listed on your video and want to make sure and I buy any brand socket. The only socket I need is the one that fits the nuts on my Cub Cadet ZT1 42 mower. Any advice or suggestions would be very APPRECIATED! Thank you kindly Vonnie

Any brand should work fine, impact rated sockets are ideal and depending on the drive size of the socket (the square hole in the back 1/4", 3/8", 1/2") you may also need an adapter to go from the impact driver to the socket

@@PatriotDIY thank you so much for your response. It does have a 1in nut...found that out over the weekend. Learning as I go. Have a nice evening.
That’s exactly how I do it I’m usually filthy when I’m done lol
i have a ZT2 60" unit has anyone found thicker blades that will last longer? i live in Florida and the Florida sand tears up the Cub blades so fast

Cub cadet makes a low lift blade that does better for sand.
Never thought of using an impact wrench. It looked easier
When installing blades, should they all be in the same position end to end? Or zig zag the blades?

That's what I'm looking for is the blade timing.
Are these jack stands you used just standard for cars/trucks, etc.?

Yes
I’ve never experienced a situation where I had to remove the blades on a lawn mower without using some sort of paver brick with a 2-4” wood block to act like a securing wedge to stop the blade from moving while loosening the locking nut.
Why does the blade on my Zt2 50 spin when trying to unscrew the bolt?
@PatriotDIY

Maybe you are trying the wrong direction?? If that's not it, Use a 2x4 to block it from spinning
@txdave5669

You have to block the blade from turning when removing the bolt that holds it to the spindle. A short piece of 2x4 works well.
I definitely don't have a driver like that but I'll probably end up using a breaker bar
I have a Cub Cadet ZT2 50". Just an FYI - the blades on this unit use the "S" pattern blades instead of the star pattern blades. These "S" blades are more expensive - $85 for a set of three at Home Depot. Also, there is a large selection of blades from various manufacturers using the star pattern... that is not the case with these "S" blades, so you're only choice is Cub Cadet blades. I notice you are installing the "yellow low lift" blades - how are those working out for you? My yard is very hard on mower blades and I"ve been thinking of trying these low lift blades instead of the hi-lift blades it came with. Do you get a decent cut with the low-lift blades? Good video, BTW. Thanks. ETA: My mistake... the low lift blades are orange, not yellow, so I guess those are not low-lift blades being installed.

I've got a ZT2 60" and finding decent proced blades is a pain in the butt. Mine are star pattern, and 3 blades cost me just about $90. Kind of wish I went with a 54" deck size as the blade prices are cheaper and much more available.
👍
I was told by the Cub Cadet dealer that the ZT2 54 Ultima has the S blades, not the 6 point star. Wonder if I was given the wrong info?

It changes so often it's crazy. Bought mine is 2018 and its the round bolt pattern. Buddy went and got one in 19 and its the star pattern and parents went to same place and its the s so who knows 😂

No, that's just the paint, that will come off as you cut. They don't need to be knife sharp

Cub Cadet must have changed something. I have a zt250 purxhased in January of this year and 15/16ths doesnt come close to fitting. Great video!

That's interesting, I'd be surprised if they changed the nut size 15/16 seems to be kind of an industry standard. Even the cub cadet website still says 15/16 www.cubcadet.com/en_US/how-to/knowledge-how-to-change-the-blades-on-a-zero-turn.html I'm sure you didn't... but because I made this mistake myself I'll mention it....when I first went to grab a socket to loosen the blades I accedently grabbed a 5/16 and that was obviously way too small. When I went back for a 15/16 she fit like a glove!

@@PatriotDIY lol. Yup they definately changed it. I just got back from lowes. I bought a 1 inch socket and it did the trick. Bought my Mower Jan 2021 it was manufactured in Nov 2020. Even the manual said 15/16th. Weird.

@@PatriotDIY even the guy at the dealer where I bought it said 15/16th or a 1 and 1/16. Crazy. Maybe they ran out of hardware when they built mine and substituted parts. Either way, Mission accomplished. Thanks for the content. New Sub here!
Timing??
I guess the alignment of the blades doesn't matter ? Like the position of where each one is rotated when you're done

You probably figured it out by now, but they designed it so they blades can't hit.

@@Bradis2cool4u2 yea I just hoped for the best. The blades actually are pretty close to touching, but no issues. I do have to use wood to keep them from turning when loosening the bolts.
