This video is the best in KZread search on Ford Explorer 2011 to 2019 for battery replacement. Disassemble Old Battery Negative first -> Positive -> Assemble New Battery Positive first -> Negative. After replacement, run engine for at least 1 minute to let car learn idling cranking, at least 20 minutes driving for automatic mission learning for MPU. If the battery low warning messaged before battery replacement, you need OBD2 scanner to reset warning message.

Question, aren't you supposed to connect it to another battery or power source before removing the battery so you won't loose the factory codes & settings ?

Exactly. My Ford dealer did not and it took hours and hours for the various computers to reset and sync! They had no idea!!!!

What is that blue connector attached to the positive terminal for? Ive narrowed down a 3 amp parasitic dfaw from that wire specifically.

Aren`t you supposed to reset the battery after changing? What is the procedure for doing that?

What about the resetting the body control module? Otherwise you get battery drawn and the conserve batt message on Ford One Touch screen at shutdown.

Just replace the lead acid battery with a AGM battery. You will never have to clean anything ever again. Yes AGM is a bit more expensive but they last longer and most importantly, the AGM battery doesn't damage any of the wiring components.
