In this video, we demonstrate how to replace a recliner spring that has popped loose. We removed a lot of necessary staples, the mechanism and installed a new spring clip to hold our spring in place. We finalized the process by reassembling the fabric. Please let us know if you have any questions or would like to see anything else.

Thank you so much for this video. I have a really nice 25-year-old full-grain leather chair, the quality and style of which would be really hard to replace. But the broken spring that I've been enduring for many years is messing up my back, so I was on the verge of trying to find a suitable replacement. But then I got to thinking, perhaps I could have it repaired, but couldn't find a place to do it. Then I thought, perhaps I could fix it--I have nothing to lose! If I can't, then it's going to end up in the same place--the landfill--as if I just bought a new one. So I'm hoping that with your great instructions (and slo-mo on the disassembly of the mechanism), I can do this! It's worth a try. Otherwise, it'll be in smaller, lighter pieces to transport to the landfill. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I'll update how this venture turns out. Hopefully it'll be successful.

It looks as if in your chair here - the only springs involved are all the long wavy springs and the seat cushion is nothing more than a thick piece of foam - correct? With my old wing back recliner, all of those long wavy springs seem good and they are all properly attached. I think my problem is that the seat cushion itself is designed with maybe coil springs inside the seat cushion. I really do not want to tear apart the seat cushion to get a look inside - therefore, i've resorted to overrlaying it with another piece of foam material - and thats really not helping so much - my butt is still sinking down into the weak spot. any ideas on this? thanks

It could potentially be weak springs, depending on how old it is. If it’s a much older piece, I would recommend replacing the springs.

arg, I figured as much; thank you. For the time being, I think i'll just put some hard board on top of my saggy seat and then buy about a 4" thick piece of foam and sit on top of that for now....redneck style :) what would be your reccomendation on the best most springiest type of foam i should choose for a thing like that? Thanks again!

Why would you have the video in fast forward when you're replacing the spring using the stick? That's the part I wanted to see clearly 😡
