How to replace a Mazda 3 lower control arm

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I replace a bent lower control arm on a 07 Mazda 3. The vehicle hit a curb in the snow and the damage was the result.
I attribute my successes to god and give him the glory.
I will pay my vows to the lord in the presence of all his people, in the courts of the house of the lord, in your midst, o Jerusalem. Praise the lord. (Psalm 116:18-19)

Good that you set the ride height before tightening the front bolt. Saw another vid by a supposedly expert mechanic with a big auto company, where they tightened the arm in the slack position !

Sure am. Started at 3am today, we had to salt the roads for morning travel. We had a small storm yesterday and were here till 8:30pm plowing. We’re going to get another storm tomorrow morning now too. I’m looking forward to spring

This looks pretty similar to the 2010 Mazda3. My buddy and I are trying to fix it in his shop, is there a way to move the engine easily? Or perhaps do it without moving the engine?

Since your comment is 4 weeks old, I assume it must have been completed already, but I just did this job on both sides. For the passenger side, we just took the cover off the compressor, and used a small crow bar, to gently push it out of the way. There's enough flex in the lines to do so. For the driver side, we removed the rear engine mount bolt, and stuck a crow bar in there and was able to pry it towards the front of the vehicle enough to get the bolt out on that side.

Do you have the part number for the pinch bolt you replaced?\

I don’t. We only ordered the control arm so if I put on a new pinch bolt it would have come with the control arm.

So what did the wheel look like after the hit?

I showed it at the end of the video. I was working when it happened so I didn’t see the wheel until I made the video. I guess it was touching the fender.

Just remove compressor cover, (3 nuts )then you don’t have to move engine

I don’t remember but I think that shield was pretty tight to the compressor. I don’t know if that would work. Might be worth a try though.
