I’m a single woman on my own and somebody tried to charge me $40 to diagnose and $170 per hour to fix it. I watched this video, found the part for $14 and some tools for $10 and did it all in 15 minutes. Thank you so much for this video! Now I have heat on both sides of my car and no more clicking lol

Thanks for the video! I have a 2012 Impala with a bad passenger side actuator. This replacement will actually be the 2nd actuator installed. The first went bad under warranty. The covered charge was $285.00. I bought my actuator from Amazon for $15.00. To me the hardest thing about the replacement was finding a pad to my knees from the driveway. Aligning the replacement actuator took a of attempts but wasn't that bad. Total replacement time was about 45 minutes. Your video was key for this project. Thanks again.

  • @cspecht89

The Monte Carlo was discontinued after 2007, but still, same as Impalas 2006-2013. If you push down on the top of the glovebox when open, it drops right down. 20 seconds. Unplugging the little clip tab wire harness on the unit, 40 seconds. Removing the unit with 2 bolts may take 10 minutes. Find replacement at your favorite parts retailer or GM dealer (ripoff) and reinstall. The most time lost will be finding the replacement part. I just took my part to Napa.

Well done - I worked in the plant that built your Impala in 2007. I thought you may find this interesting. One Impala ran off the end of the line every 54 seconds with roughly 1800 employees on each shift of a 3 shift operation. 2016 the impala and Camaro will shift production back to the USA.

Thank you for this video, swapped mine out and only paid $20. Excellent tutorial! One comment to add to those that do this, you don't really even need to hook up the harness until it's mounted. You can turn the blender door by hand to orient the shaft to the actuator. I need to swap my air inlet actuator, it's the same part. thanks again.

I'm late to this party but just now had to do this repair. Pro Tip for my fellow fumble fingers: put a small towel or something like that under the actuator to catch the bolts if/when you eventually drop the bolts. It made recovery very simple. I probably would have had to remove a lot of the dash to get them back lol.

I just did this repair on my wife's car........it's not as easy when your disabled and can't bend in the way to even get to this part ! I looked into having it done and the estimate was between $250-$375 . The part cost me $42 in 2022 and it took me about a good 45 minutes . Now that I've done one the next one will be less than 10 minutes ! I found it easier to take the cover off the motor and just replace the plastic gear in the middle . Way easier and quicker and the factory motor is never bad .....the clicking is from the middle gear having chipped or missing teeth !

Thanks for the much needed info! This saved me from getting ripped off $400 from the shop. My 2012 impala started to make that ticking noise last month (unfortunately from the driver's side so it was quite a hassle to get that fixed). About a few weeks after that was done, now my passenger side is going off! Luckily, it's more accessible through the glove box so I have no problem with that. Gotta love GM's cheap parts.

I installed my new one and it's ticking right out of the box. I lined up the rotating part correctly and everything. It is the same part as the one in your video. Now I have to wait ANOTHER two weeks for the replacement part. Oh well, thanks for the video. By far the best one I have seen for this repair.

There's no heat on the passenger side of my 2012 Impala. Think this could be the reason why I'm getting cold air? I saw two actuators there towards the end of video which of the two should I replace? Oh and btw my car is not making any noise like yours should I still replace it?

I cut two pieces of white clothes hanger wire two inches long and inserted them in the screw holes. With the actuator plugged in and the car and AC on, I guided the wires thru the actuator screw holes and while holding it firmly in place, the actuator gear rotated until it engaged the shaft.

Yeah, that motor was fun to replace.... my hand was too big to just drop the glove box door down like that and get to the bolts so I had to remove the hinge pins instead and pull the whole door off. Using a titan brand quarter inch ratchet and a 5.5mm socket it took like 10 minutes to replace.

Thanks Klowny,,,,you're the best! Just got this done, took me a LOT longer than you,,,,but it's done,,,me and my Dad figured a dealer woulda charged anywhere from $600-$800,,,,say $100 an hour for labor, a hundred or so for the part, and a hundred a so just for the heck of it,,,,plus tax! I got the part from the same guys you did for about $20, plus around fifty for tools,,,,the little ratchet (I used a geared one) for about $12, and a socket set and some little screwdrivers for around another $20,,,didn't need all of them, but thought I'd keep them just in case, start my own toolbox! My total price=about $70 for something I woulda paid a dealership at least $600,,,,a total savings of $530-win for me! Thanks again, man, you rock!

It turned out to be the blend door, the one that's furthest back and close to the door. It was a BITCH with limited space to work with but I conquered it thanks to your video! The part was $35 at the auto parts store but had I ordered it from Amazon it was $18. But hell I saved from not taking it to the dealership!

Before replacing the control should be set in the off position to the bottom the heat both sides and the battery should be disconnected the keyway to the should be in the right position to the new one that you purchased that's how it was for me thank you for your video the blower motor should be in the off position

I decided to look it up on KZread and I found your video, it looks easy to do. You say that if the noise bothers me to disconnect it, but I did and still makes a noise. How many of them are? Btw, I had a mechanic change the one on the right side, charged me almost $200. So I have decided to do it myself on this one. Your video is very easy to follow. I'll post when I'm done.

I’m trying to do that now but don’t know what kind of tool to use on it. There is no Phillips or flathead groove, nor is there any sides to put a socket on it. It just has grooves all around it like a gear and is too tight to turn by hand. How exactly do you remove the three pins that are keeping it attached?
