How to Replace 2010-2012 Lexus ES350 Side View Mirror

Learn how to replace your 2006-2012 Lexus ES350 model range. Changing your side view mirror is not as difficult as it may seem. We'll walk you through it step-by-step to help you get you back to driving safely.
Your side view mirror is very important to a safe drive. It's just plain uncomfortable and distracting to keep looking in the lanes behind you straining your neck.

This mirror is attached a bit differently from most side-view mirrors. You do have to remove the door panel on this vehicle and the nuts or fasteners are on the base of the door. Most mirrors will be attached to the top of the door near the window allowing for easy removal. As you see in the video, you have to unfasten the nuts through the slits on the door.
TOOLS: You will need a Philips screwdriver, flat-head screwdriver, and a socket wrench with a 10mm socket.
DIRECTIONS:
Start by removing the window power module with the flat-head screwdriver and unplug the connectors. You will need the flat-head screwdriver to pop the panels to reveal the screws. You need to remove the four screws off the door panel before taking the panel off. The first screw is behind the window module, the second under the door handle cubby, the third is behind the door handle, and the last screw is in the circle. Do NOT force the panel off as you may break the plastic clips. The key to removing the door panel is by popping it from the bottom and pushing it from the bottom up. You shouldn't have to put too much force into removing the panel. It's just plastic clips that hold it to the door, easy-peasy.
Once the panel is off you can detach the wires from the door and the mirror. The door trim on this car is one piece and needs to be removed. The most important part is removing the three fasteners/nuts from the door. Be careful not to drop the nuts inside the door because they will be difficult to retrieve. You can now remove the mirror from the door. You have just completed the most difficult part of the process. All you have to do now is work your way backward and install the side view mirror.
For those of you that love to read, let's keep going. It helps to clean the base of the door when you install your newly painted mirror but it's not necessary. It's important that you install the rubber grommet to the base of the mirror. Most aftermarket mirrors come with a rubber or foam grommet but you can always reuse your original one if need be. When you mount the mirror make sure to plug in the connector just in case the mirror wants to fall down. Before we secure the mirror, you want to make sure the features work properly in case you have to take it off. When you secure the bolts, do not apply too much pressure because you make break the threads on the mirror. Lastly, place the panel on from the window and snap-on working your way down. The last items you should have left are the window trim and our bolts to secure the door panel. Don't forget to check the window regulator control. Congratulations, you did it! We told you it wasn't that difficult.

Thanks so much, worked like a charm for my 2007 Lexus ES 350 today. And one tip…if you do lose (drop into door) the three nuts that hold the mirror on… just unscrew the speaker down below to easily fetch them. That happened on two out of my three bolts because I did not have a magnetized 10 mm socket.

Great video! Just finished up replacing both side mirrors on my 2009 lexus es350. I banged them both up badly reversing out of my garage. Found both mirrors on ebay for $50(rh) and $125(lh) in the matching color from salvaged cars. Took me about 4 - 5 hours because I messed up a few times, but everything works perfectly now. Thanks again for the video!

That honestly was an awesome video…and thank you for that lil extra tidbit of info at the end where you put the wiring harness through the wrong hole and the window wouldn’t go all the way down. I really appreciate the video, I feel I can replace my own mirror. Thanks. I did notice that the window didn't completely go all the way up when he was complete. Should be prepared to hold my window in place some how to make sure I dont have any issues with the window once complete. I only say this because, I really dont want to take the door off again to align the mirrow (of course if I have to I will) or should I just check the window function prior to placing all screw ( please forgive me for so much typing. I'm actually thinking about what I can do as I type this comment. Actually you dont have to respond as I think from looking at this great video and typing alot (lol) I know what I can do about making sure the window is align properly. Oh man sorry had a lot of comments to reply to. Just make sure the wire is behind the rail. You can hook the control back on and try the windows glass up and down to make sure it’s not hitting the wire. Go to www.Revemoto.com

You're welcome. The process is the same, but the screws/bolts may be in different locations. There is always one behind the door handle but other screws may be in slightly different locations. Let us know if you have any questions! 🖖
great video. I'm doing the same thing for my Lexus CT200h, 2013. I got stumped after I removed the door panel on my vehicle. Until I saw that you were able to access those 3 nuts thru the access openings. My vehicle is a bit different, there is a plastic Cover that is also used to hold the wiring harness for the mirror assembly. I just had to remove the plastic cover, as well as some Tape on the inner part of my door to get to the 3 bolts.

So i have a quick question is the area thats around the mirror thats the same color as the car is that interchangeable? Like are you able to take it off & replace it with another color or its one with the mirror ?

My passenger side mirror housing on my ES350 is fine it’s just the power operation will only adjust up and down, it won’t adjust in and out. Can I just replace the glass or have to replace entire mirror?

It's should be 80% similar. The bolts on the door panel may be in a different location or there will be 1 or 2 bolts more or less. It's the same process. Thanks for watching!

Hello! Sorry for the delay. You have a 50/50 chance on it working. Your car has to support the function. Sometimes manufactures make every car with the capability but you you have to purchase the mirror for it to work. Or, your vehicle may not support the camera function and you could be stuck with dysfunctional mirror. Could be that the mirror may not even be able to plug into the car. We recommend sticking with the mirror you car came with. Check out Lexus forums, those guys usually have the answer. Good luck!

We do not recommend it. Every mirror has pins that match up to the vehicles features when sold. If have the higher end package, you have the electrical pins for those features. If you install a mirror with the incorrect pins, you have chance that some other feature may not work correctly. Also, some manufactures make so that every has the option but you have to buy the mirror with the features. So, it can be very tricky and we don't recommend it. I hope this helps.

It pretty much will. There may be some screws in slightly different places on the door panel. Lexus really like to pout the mirror on the actual door, so it should be 75% similar. Good luck!

Does anyone know the exact spec of the bolts that are used for the side view mirror? I have to replace my mirror as it got into the accident and i have no bolts.

Don't be sorry, that is a good question. If you are referring to the window trim at 3:32 , that was just a mistake. Most mirrors are attached at the corner of the door where the window trim ends. I think it was just a habit of checking the usual spot and then he realized it was on the actual door. But, you do not have to remove the window trim/weather strip for this install. @@ReveMoto thanks for your reply. I work on cars for a living. My old neighbor has a Lexus. Just was seeing what tools I needed. Surprises me they don’t have more bolts.
He doesn't talk or explain about door sensors lock sensor that comes out and needs to make sure it's not backwards because it will go in either way

That is true, thank you for pointing that out. I think he just assumed that the front connector or the closest to the front of the door would be the first to the plugin. Generally, the harness is set up so that the first connector would be the first plugin but that can easily be confusing. Thank you for watching!

Your window is hitting the wire for mirror 🤦♂️
this is absolutely WRONG. You led the mirror wire through the wrong hole when you put the new mirror on. Please do not put your mistakes on youtube. The wire that runs the mirror must go through the forward-most hole in the door, not either of the holes that you access the mounting nuts through.
All this for a fucking mirror? Ill just pay a ese to do mine
