Wow. Thanks for actually pointing out the clip you need to pull up. I watched about 4 other teardowns and they were like “There’s a clip in here you need to lift up”. So when I went to do it, I went for the most obvious clip which is connected to the base. I broke that piece off and then found your video. The Series X is turning out to be more annoying than the PS5 for disassembly. That big screw in the middle where the fan is decided to have the raw power of Thor’s fuckin hammer and I stripped it; had to use pliers to get it out.

Thank you so freaking much, I needed to open my halo edition without breaking it and this helped

The series x/s have such poor ventilation, this video is very instructive, thank you.

Apparently manufacturers aren't allowed to void warranties ( in the US) when people go inside products, according to the FTC and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Did you get a answer from any other source,id of thought laid flat would be best with nothing near both top and bottom for good flow of air 🤷‍♂️

Maybe also inform people that damaging the sticker voids any Xbox liability for future issues.

Honestly idk why microsoft are so afraid of people covering the bottom vents. The air takes the path of least resistance, which is through the vents at the back. The holes at the bottom barely do anything at all. I've seen this first hand too as I removed my stand and put dust filters over every vent on the console when i got it 3 years ago and the only vents that get dust accumulation are the ones on the back.

Can I put it back on? Trying to find a vid showing how it’s done. Completely regret doing this

Yes, it goes right back into place, and you can keep the ring on while horizontal and have no issues.

i would prefer to move it without taking off the back lol they seemed to make removing it annoying

Isn't the stand blocking the vents anyway?

No. The ring allows the base of the console enough elevation as to ensure airflow.

i would never want vertically if i can go horizontal as i want my disc to go in normal lol hate sideways cds or dvds

Why would you show the void your warranty option as option 1 for doing this?

@@zacharyosvald251 I caught mines 3 months ago from a local gamestop brought a brick ps4 in and walked out with a xsx with -140 off the msrp of the xsx💯I had to get gamepass tho so add other 50 it's came to about $433 or sum shit taxes included ..when it's was all done with.

Just got 1 from amazon not worth it so far to be honest

You don't have to take the back off to get to that tab. Just stick a small flathead into one of the vent holes to pull that tab up and spin the base off.

Heat with a blow dryer and gently peel it then put it back on after

You can only have the console horizontal or it will overheat and turn off sooner.

This is from Microsoft's own website: "An Xbox Series X console can be placed either horizontally or vertically. Make sure that you place your console on a stable surface that is well-ventilated, relatively cool, and away from direct heat sources. Don't put other objects on, under, or right next to the console."

Guy's don't ever remove the stickers it voids the warranty!😮 My Xbox was out of warranty but i didn't remove the stickers, Microsoft still gave me a new Xbox Series X because mine wasn't working anymore after i dropped it.

xbox yet again have messed up on the cooling of their console..its sad.. plus the top fan runs at just 6v..slow and useless! should be running at 12v! and they should of added a bottom fan firing upwards into the console too!
