The trick with soldering is that the screw must be hot enough to melt the solder. If you just drop a bit of melted solder onto a cold screw then the solder won't stick. Keep your solder iron tip on the screw for a few seconds before touching the solder to it. When you touch the solder at the point where the soldering iron tip meets the screw and the solder flows nicely, then you have a good chance of the solder sticking to the screw. Everything MUST be clean... use rubbing alcohol first.

@blablabla118510 жыл бұрын
I didn't believe it at first, but it actually works! The major binding force is from the thread locker (such as loctite) on these tinny screws. I think it's the alcohol and HEAT that do the trick to loose the thread locker, and the screw can be easily taken off without much force on the soldered resistor.

this DOES work (i literally just did it), but obviously it won't work for a screw that has been tightened a lot. the wire on the resistor would bend before the screw budges. if you're having that problem try a component that uses thicker wire, such as LEDs. you could try a needle or something similar. also, in my case it worked without the alcohol. BE CAREFUL NOT TO MELT ANY PLASTIC. if the solder doesn't stick to the screw up the heat on your iron, but be a lot more careful. if the screw isn't metallic in colour it probably has a coating you need to scrape off.

That's smart.
Hold the iron on the screw for a few seconds and then try to melt the solder onto it. Worked for me.
Very good tip, sometimes lens screws have threadlocker and the iron tip helps break it down
this is a good strategy, hey thanks
What you need: Alcohol Me: **looking at my hand sanitizer** My hand sanitizer: Dont even think about it
I have an OpenPandora w/ stripped screws. (I'm trying to upgrade the board.) I'll have to give this a shot when I get the chance.
This is perfect lifehack... no more drilling ^^ thanks :)
Like a pro!! Nice!!
You can scratch the screw a little bit with a sharp too, sometime it helps !
Brill vid very good technique will try this sometime
If the screw is stuck in so hard that a driver strips it, the relatively soft solder will do nothing. This will only work if an already stripped screw is inserted loosely.
Thanks a lot for your effective technic
Amazing! Thanks.
Excellent
Without HAVING to drill them ;-) (or without drilling them) What type of solder do you use for that? I am a little surprized it didn't snap right off.
Great video... amazing!!
awesome!
Thank you!
Sweet. Only method that fixes the screw after as well
Lifesaver! Thank you :)
Just want to say you are an absolute genius. Thanks so much
i was wondering what type of solder was used in the video to take out the computer screw
Genius!
Screws are soft, the tools are softer and 2 are in there like a tick, rounded out the T5 and the tiny screw driver as if somebody used superglue on the threads when screwing these 2 in. How much would it cost to do this right... almost 3k laptop and you can't remove the screws, insane.
yes bro thank u i forsure have sodder at home when i dont even have a drill
It actually worked! I did this with a pushpin 📌
genius
I used lead-free 96/4 silver-bearing solder and it couldn't stick to the screw. Don't know whether I should use standard rosin-core solder. Anyone knows?
i am fully in love with you i swear... saved me $200 at my local comp repairer
samurai champloo music :D
i love you for this tip thx man ;)
this method saved my dad's laptop XD
I have that trouble with a Hard Disk can you help me?
Thats gangster
can i use a paperclip together with a heavy object to unscrew a small screw?
Solder only welds properly when both surfaces get to the melting point of the solder, otherwise it's just sitting on the metal, and not stuck to it.
What type of desoldering braid is that
This is like performing surgery, what the hell? I just want to clean my fan, but the screws are too small and tight. What couldn't they make things easier for us?
Can it still work on a black screw on the motherboard without damaging it?
Thank you 👏
I wonder the solidering is strong enough to hold still !
what would work in place of a resistor? guessing any old wire wont do...
what about if the Screw head Broken inside that Hole how do you take out Thanks for a nice trick
