As a detailer back in the 80's, we simply used straight kerosene in a spray bottle to break down tar. Because tar is a petroleum distillate itself, kerosene works tremendously well. Thanks for the video!

I use a product that most People already have it's WD40. Just spray it on tar/sap heavy, than cover with clear sandwich wrap let it sit.Pull off wrap spray a rag with WD40 rub it off. I have done this for 45 years. It work's.

Everyone please be careful with Citrol 266. It is one of the best heavy duty degreasers out there but it is not clearcoat safe. You can cut it by spraying it onto a slightly damp microfiber or applicator for tar. If you want to cut it further to make it even safer, spray it onto an even damper applicator (ring it out just until it no longer drips). No matter how you use Citrol 266, ALWAYS flush it with soap/water or rinseless/waterless wash to neutralize it as it can soften the clearcoat if this is not done. In time, it will eat away the clear if you don't flush it. Incredible product if used safely!

AMG in all their wisdom put a Sport mode actuation lever right next to the cup holder. Not a great combo when a skinny Redbull can is thrown in to the mix. The end result is a sticky lever (real sticky). I just ran down to the garage and put a few drops of IPA on it and wiped it down- totally unstuck now and feels new again. I'll let ya know tomorrow if it shorted out! Thanks for the tip... I no longer drink Redbull, they need to work on their can to cup holder dynamics.

Luckily, I wash my car in my garage/detailing studio, so I never get bothered. And for the few times I might wash a car outside, my neighbours come and watch me work and ask me the classic "When you're done with this one, want to do mine hahaha?" But even younger, when I was at my parents' house washing cars outside, it was never an issue. Neighbours mind their business where I live (Montreal, Canada). I never had any friends tell me they had issues neither.

Same solution: 70% or greater ( but not 99%) IPA sprayed onto a supersoft toothbrush or cleaning brush, and agitate it so a LITTLE IPA seeps down the crack. Do a little IPA at a time and agitate until it evaporates. Then repeat. Do NOT soak the button area. You want to dissolve the solids and gum that are in the crack blocking the button's smooth travel. Hold the button in the "down'" position if you can to get the bristles down into the crack better. If you use a lot of liquid, the goop all goes down onto the PCB board and can cause deterioration ( because there's SOME water in the IPA solution). Why not use a 99% IPA solution ? Because that can actually dissolve some rubbers, siicones and plastics and paint or simulated chrome coatings. You can make your own 75% IPA by mixing 3 Parts 99% with 1 part distilled or Reverse osmosis water. It just wont small as nice as some commercial ones do , Like the Gyeon Interior Detailer, or any Prep Sprays.

  • @PanTheOrganizer

Glass cleaners or paint preps alone aren’t meant to remove previous protections. A glass stripper or glass polish will be your best friend. Here are two simple and quick glass strippers that I like: amzn.to/3QSdU8v (clean the glass, dry it, then apply this glass compound in circular or cross hatch pattern, and then rinse, and dry, and you're ready to apply a fresh glass sealant or coating) amzn.to/3QRGQ0b You can see me use the glass compound here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6eYr4-Noredlso.htmlsi=jW00vq1dc443saXm That should work for the majority of glass sealants removal. If you have a pro grade glass coating that is more stubborn to remove, then you'd move up to a rayon polishing pad and a glass polish. I have a glass polishing tutorial on my channel.

When you say sticky buttons, are you referring to the actual plastics changing chemical composition where the top layer is actually dissolving and feeling gooey which in turn makes them very sticky? Seems to happen in older cars. An example would be the steering wheel airbag cover on a C5 Corvette. What I found that works about 90% was Goof Off, but in time the plastic starts to get sticky again. Great info and video!

They are chemical resistant to certain point. They are not magical force fields that will protect them against extremely harsh chemicals (super high alkaline pH degreasers like Citrol, or battery acid for example). And although they will protect the clear coat, that's their job, it doesn't mean the chemicals won't weaken or scar them, hence you lose a bit of the coating's properties. Repeated use of super harsh alkaline or acidic chemicals will eventually weaken even the best coatings. There are limits to everything. Do coatings have a much higher chemical resistance compared to traditional waxes and sealants? Heck yeah, for sure. But they are not bulletproof. See a video I made about the chemicals a coating can or can't resist here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2uLtMSfm7ebidI.htmlsi=QRCD5HBQCBtW__Hb

IPA is safer compared to most degreasers. A degreaser should really only be used on the exterior and engine bay. An all-purpose cleaner is a bit more suited for interior use, if properly diluted (follow the instructions of the product you are using). But like for anything, as it's impossible to know how each specific material from all manufacturers will do, always test on an inconspicuous area first. Multiple light applications with light agitation is better than a heavy application a heavy scrubbing.

According to Koch Chemie: Eulex is a product for the quick removal of adhesives (eg sticker residues), rubber, tree resin, spray mist, ink stains, oil, greases, tar, etc. from solvent-resistant surfaces such as paintwork, glass, ceramic, metal, etc. Evaporates quickly and without leaving residues and contains no halogenated hydrocarbons. Teerwasche (Tea) is a solvent-based, material-friendly cleaner for the effortless removal of tar and bitumen. Suitable for all solvent-resistant surfaces of passenger cars and commercial vehicles, car wash brushes, workshop floors, machines, etc. Free from halogenated hydrocarbons. For tar, most prefer Eulex, and yes it's more powerful compared to TarX.

Thanks for the video. Really appreciate you sharing your experience. I have an unfortunate situation that occurred recently to me. In June, I took a road trip from Seattle Washington to Alberta. On the the way back while driving from Edmonton to Jasper, I drove over an area of road work that had signs for ‘fresh oil and chips on roadway’. When I reached Jasper, I realized that my vehicle was completely covered with a substance and it was already drive that I couldn’t wipe it. I returned to Seattle a few days later and took it to a detailing shop that made their best attempt but could not remove the substance completely from the body, tires and windows. Long story short, after filing a claim, I was contacted by the contractor of the roadwork and they said that I should use Citrol. My question for you is, with PPF on my car (full body), Will Citrol help with removal without damaging the PPF? Can I use on tires and windows also? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Citrol would be too harsh on your PPF. You should check with your PPF installer what he thinks, as there are so many different kinds of PPF. But Citrol is ok to use on glass, tires and paint. Just keep in mind, if you had any protection on the vehicle (wax, coating, etc) it will potentially damage that too.

Wash with a shampoo like CarPro Descale made to remove mineral deposits. If that doesn’t work, use a waterspot remover like CarPro Spotless 2.0 or Gtechniq Water Spot Remover or DIY Detail Water Spot Remover. If that doesn’t work, go to machine polishing. If that still doesn’t work in rare cases you’ll need water sanding or perhaps a full panel respray. Water spots that are left unattended can etch through the clear coat and cause permanent damage.

That said, I just used the TW bug and tar remover on a car and found it worked really well. I found however, that it worked much easier if I sprayed it directly on the vehicle, allowed it to dwell for a few minutes (at which point, black tar streaks starts to appear brown and extra gross), then wiped it off with a microfiber cloth. Furthermore, the TW product is very thick, hydrophobic and that combined with tar stains on that microfiber cloth? I just threw it out instead of trying to clean it.

I use the stock tips that come installed on the sprayers. Don't overthink the moment for the tips. 4. You can leave the rinseless solution in the sprayer for 1 or 2 months that's fine. You can keep the mix in the bottle for 1 to 2 months no problem. Beyond that, I would mix a fresh batch.

Many all purpose cleaners must be used with caution as they will completely remove the painted on labels from knobs and buttons!!

Correct. Test on inconspicuous areas first, and make sure you get the appropriate dilution ratio for interior use.

@@PanTheOrganizer I don’t understand how to search specific topics (on your channel) I want to know how to polish out specks on my windshield and light scratches on my side view mirrors AND gauge cluster . I have a 2021 Toyota Tundra Crewmax. I’ll get to the paint correction very soon. Thanks!! You rock!

It's super simple. In the KZread search bar, simply type the topic you are looking for, and add the words "Pan The Organizer" at the end. For example, if you are looking for a glass polishing tutorial, type "Glass Polishing Pan The Organizer" and you'd fall on this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4Gdl7KtqdS7eZs.htmlsi=d-6WcbpPF9i2U3vP With over 900 videos on my channel so far, and new ones added twice weekly (Wednesday and Saturday), you'll likely always find what you're looking for. I don't have a video on gauge cluster polishing, but the solution is quite simple. Hand polish using a microfiber towel, and this polish: amzn.to/3OOCTa4 Also, I highly recommend that you watch my popular paint correction tutorial here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6eotqePd7C1hKw.html

That’s way too harsh for use on the interior. Be very careful with APCs especially those not specifically formulated for automotive use (Super Clean is more of a household product).

99% IPA is not as good of an antiseptic as one would think. 70% is actually better.
