Congratulations on the new shop. I moved into mine December 22 and it was one of the best feelings in life. I was mobile for years. I have that same detailing cart i use it in my mobile trailer it is amazing!

thanks luke, how long you been doing this? i just did a video/shop tour kind of explaining the new space and how i got there/here etc etc. But basically i just knew....mobile detailing in winter sucks and i didn't want to do it again. i'm still doing mobile for folks that ask but i'm charging a fee now....maybe it will go up but i'm starting at $25

Great video. At work we use technicians choice TEC 90 remove all. It’s safe on interior plastic trim,window tint and clear coat.melts tar and adhesive residue right off. Keep the videos coming

I haven’t used their ceramic spray yet but a guy I work with has and told me it’s awesome stuff. Their products are very good I think.their 1000 leveling buffing compound is the best I have ever used as well as the fine cutting and the one step ceramic polish. All of their stuff is good though

George Myers tec 90 is legit ! I use it at my jobs shop for tar

Congrats on the shop. I love tar x but you can’t stop the smell coming from the bottle which sucks if you go mobile. I’m going to try the tarminator since it’s aerosol and should smell up your garage or car (going mobile) when stored as much. Thanks for the ideas!

hey man always appreciate the feedback. yeah i was a citrol guy for the longest time, then ran out, then didn't see tar for a while. and then this summer i've had a couple of big jobs so just kind of catching up my tar skills/knowledge this summer lol

Congrats on the new shop. Ice always has good luck with Tarminator. Sometimes I have to dig out the clay bar. The oder isn't near as bad as that special mix of stuff 😂

Congrats to you. When you get a shop, you know you're succeeding. Huge step, which many fail to take. Get a window tinter in there to help cover your rent. What's the overhead like? A commercial spot like that in SoCal would run about $1200

thanks man. I'm not a success. I hope to be one day, still figuring it all out. the shop is scary and i'm just leaning into the fear....doubling down on the dream i guess. i don't know...winters are just rough as a mobile detailer in a snowy climate. about 850/mo

Reducer and hardener is what you mix with paint when spraying cars also helps when your trying color match paint

According to one of the longtime paint shops in our area it's not advisable to use Lacquer thinner on a tri-coat paint job especially one like white diamond because it can do Laura Hayes the top coat. And on a Honda CR-V touring the diamond effect is in the top coat.

I bought the Car Care Terminator from Stoner from O'Reilly's Auto Shop today - that stuff is the bee's knees double Ds, absolutely recommend.

@@danielchampion2982 It's funny you mention that, after I bought it the first time, I went into O'Reilly's to buy it again and the same damn thing happened to me. They were fortunately cool with giving me my money back without my receipt, however, they didn't have any other cans left to replace the malfunctioned one. Believe me, the stuff is magic. I went from putting all of my muscle strength into wiping the tar off to literally the opposite.

Good to see someone wearing a respirator when needed. I do that when using Iron X and Citrol. The warnings on the back of that Citrol can are frightening.

You should try Eulex from koch chemie it is probably the best adhesive tar remover I've found

@@HawkProDetailing Yep, as I suspected Forensics Detailing Channel has a few videos on it! I actually already had them in my playlist for auto detailing because I was trying to really see what you professionals tend to grab. I'm learning a lot!

You can reduce the amount of TarX you applyied by very much and it's still effective. We use something called Cold Degreaser products. Which basicly is tar remover and based on different petroleum. They can make them to reduce the smell from them. But also make them so they work to be sprayed on a wet paint and with clinging ability that reduce the amount of product you use and also the run off from them. Almost all bigger brands has these Cold Degreaser products in their line up here in EU. Strange that they are not so much of offerings in the US of these. Meguiars and Sonax and Turtle Wax has them here. They are down to between $6-$12 for 1L bottles. These are used as spray on let it dwell and rinse off. We get a lot of tar during the winter months here in Sweden with what the road salt desolves from the roads and a lot of studded winter tires on vehicals makes for a perfect storm of tar LOL. And since they also are sanding the roads for the smaller roads. It's a huge chance to get sand attached on the tar spots or in them. So apply a tar remover and wipe it off is a no go here and is to take into consideration every where that tar is sticky and can accumulate dirt and dust that scratch the paint badly if you are unlucky. That's often why we apply the tar remover/cold degreaser on dry paint the first we do when we are going to be washing. Applyied often from around the paint outside of the wheels and side panels and the back of the car. Also don't apply over the windows as it can run into the doors and desolve the rust protection and also not in the wheel wells for the same reason. Then use the water pressure from the PW to clean it off with as a touchless tar removal. This if needed mostly every week or so during the winter months here in Sweden LOL. So when ever you have a chance to wash without freezing to death LOL. And as you noticed the TarX works very good this way. I save it for when the tar build up is high since not been washed for a longer time. Otherwise it's mostly some kind of cold degreaser I use. The TarX is expensive but if you fine mist it on and you can have the bottle for a 3-6 washes. But with old baked on tar I useally starts with a touchless tar removal and wash the vehical and then do tar removal with wipe it off as it's gets very effective when doing so. I always use way too much product; I could feel that I was being a bit excessive in this video so that's good to know. I had come off of a really bad tar job, so i was scarred emotionally lol.

Only thing if found that works is parts cleaner can eat clear coat but if used careful will take it right off with no damage

Thoughts on how of any of the top 3 products work on decals on a side x side?

Optimum TAR is also absolutely fantastic and extremely versatile.

Crazy how much tar there is in that car. From road work , / asfalt work?

What can I use on the windows? My car is covered with what looks exactly like the yellow car you de-tarred. But what about the windows and mirrors?

What is the effect on pain gloss . I head this kind of cleaners fade the paint and you can see white patches or dull surface where ever you use. Can you please throw some light on this.

Did i miss it or did you not try superclean in the video?

Chemical guy bug n tar wash is best...minimal dilution. Ive tried all these and it wins plus not a harsh kerosene solvent.

Recommend using 3m adhesive remover product # 08984 works great for tar and other automotive adhesives and safe of oem paint. Just be careful not to be used on freshly dried paint it will soften the clear.

Paint Thinner is just Mineral Spirits. Tarminator if I remember correctly is just Acetone. Citrol 266 is very similar to Rapid Remover/Goo Gone using Orange Citrus Oils to remove things, but it's like a concentrated version. Reducer most of the time is either Naptha (lighter fluid) or Acetone depending on the manufacturer/brand. In my experience using Citrol 266 has been the most and safest method because it works on everything. If you get Lacquer Thinner, Acetone, & Mineral Spirits around plastics it will start to discolor them and pull whatever dye out of them. Citrol will do the same, but at a much slower & safer approach.

i know ceramic pro is a quality product. the slickness after applying light is insane. But for me it's their marketing. nobody beats it ya know? and that's what attracted me to them in the first place. i do want a chemical only account with IGL tho....

The only time to use a sponge when detailing a car is when removing tar. Just throw the sponge away after use, and save the microfiber towel for something else.

Yup. $20+ for TarX 32oz (I don't know) $13 for Tarminator 20 oz $20+ to buy products to make the SPC (sweet project cars) mix. Oooorrr.... $4 a gallon (depending on location) for some gas. YES IT MIGHT STRIP clear and blah blah blah, but if your going to rebuild those layers then why not.

You should really test that crazy mixture on a clean panel and measure before and after film thickness. Not too sure I'd be taking lacquer thinner to automotive paint. For tar removal, try 3M Adhesive Cleaner #08984.

@@HawkProDetailing In my area, O'reilly auto parts has it in stock, it can also be ordered through Amazon, Walmart, and NAPA. However there is one caveat, it is rather expensive for the volume.

Just found out the magic solution. Took half hour to wipe off a real mess. A can of tar exploded onto my car. Brakes and parts cleaner. Liquifies the tar and wipes of like nothing and then recoat with wax. I wish I had videoed it. That's brakes and parts cleaner. Walmart.

Looks like the tar was “fresh” and not too baked in.

Not a great job addressing the safety of using some of these products on various parts of the car or various materials. Stoner Tarminator WILL eat/destroy plastics, particularly clear plastics like lights/lens housings. The homemade mixture you used will degrade clearcoat and paint over time, I would stay far away from using that stuff, no matter how safe it seems in the moment. That stuff will soften clear, or just eat it if left to dwell or dry. TarX is a bit safer than the above. However they still mention that you need to avoid sensitive plastics and acrylic paint. For a completely safe Tar Remover product, may I recommend Gyeon TAR, it's pH neutral and safe to use on all plastics and trim. It's great at removing tar and road grime, while not damaging any paintwork, trim, plastics, etc. It may not be as fast, as it requires 2-4 minutes of dwell time, but you know for sure your car is safe. Its also great to use it to remove tar from areas like naked front end splitters, or other platic trim on the front, etc. Try it, let me know what you think.

I just use a little gas on a rag. It comes right off. Wash car after.

"It's clear to me..." this is a bias review; Citrol should have been in the Top-3, not the "amazing, sweet project cars combo."

As soon as he said paint thinner I stopped watching. I don't care how low of a percentage he said to use in the mixture. Just going with my gut here !
