How to remove a 2014-2016 Hyundai Elantra Front Bumper Cover, 1 of 3

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Have you ever wondered or needed to remove your broken, ugly front bumper off of your 2016 Hyundai Elantra, here it is! This is the first of 3 videos that will show you how.

0:08 Intro
0:19 Loosen the fender liner

1:19 Remove the bolt holding the bumper to the fender
1:58 Repeat on the other side
3:00 Remove the radiator cover
4:30 Pop the bumper off the brackets
5:06 Outro
It's a very easy process and we promise that anyone can do it.
TOOLS NEEDED: Philips screwdriver, wrench, or socket wrench with 10mm socket.
INSTRUCTIONS:
It's normally best to start from the bottom of the bumper and work your way up. This way the bumper won't fall on your unsuspecting face. It can happen. There are two plastic push pins but of the Philips screw variety. Just unscrew the center (:28), you may have to hold the exterior rim of the clip with your finger but instead of popping this out, you unscrew it. This particular customer was missing the under-car shield but there are normally two 10mm bolts at the center that attach the shield to the bumper.
Make your way to the fender liner on any side, we started with the driver side. Peel the fender liner away and there will be a 10mm screw that connects the fender and the bumper together. Remove this screw then do the same on the opposite side. Next, make your way to the plastic push pins on the engine cover or top of the bumper. The key is to wedge your flat-head underneath the button and pry it up or use a panel clip pliers. You're all done with what secures the bumper to the car, just pull the corners from the fenders gently to remove the bumper. Make sure you don't let the bumper fall if you have fog lights. This vehicle did not have any.
That is all! You did it, it's easy. If you need to install the bumper just work your way backward from the removal or check out the video below or at the end of this video. It's a 3 part series, removal, bumper accessories, and finally, the bumper install. Thanks for watching!

    Worth a thumbs up… since I have a 2016 Elantra that I’m getting ready to replace the front and rear bumper covers! Door dashing all winter in Alaska has left its signature on the car and I want to fix it myself. Question- do you have a list or link of the body panel clips (sizes) and locations, I’ve already bought one universal kit(?), I can now fix a bunch of other kinds of cars, I just need some stuff for my Elantra now! Thanks for the video, I’ll be watching your channel religiously

    Thanks Robert! For body parts go to www.Revemoto.com. The universal clip kit is what I would of recommended. The bolts I would just get 10mm at your local auto store or if you want the cheaper online like eBay. Other than that I am not sure about the other misc clips but I would just get those unique ones at the dealership

  • @ReveMoto

    @ReveMoto

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Kenneth! No you don’t have to take the whole bumper off. It will just be easier since you can put the bumper on a stand. The way I will tell you you have to be under the car. So you will have to take the fender liner off not the whole thing, but just underneath the bumper. Locate the fog light and it should be 2-3 screws you have to take off and unplug harness. Then you can just put the new one on doing the reverse of what you just did.

  • @ReveMoto

    @ReveMoto

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello, and great question. The covers pretty much work the same way as the fog light brackets. So, you just have to unplug the fog lights and disconnect the brackets or transfer them to the new bumper. It's usually a couple screws on the brackets. Thank you for watching!

  • @ReveMoto

    @ReveMoto

    2 жыл бұрын

    Having an extra person always helps but it's not required. If you can clip on under the headlights (start with the middle, then to the sides) it will usually stay put. Then just insert the top bolts/clips to hold the bumper. Then snap it in under the fender and start inserting the bolts/clips. Thank you for watching!

    Hello! Yes, a lot of vehicles will come with the wires on the harness even if you did not buy the car with those options. Please double check with the Elantra forums but they are most like for the fog lights. You'll just need to get the lights, brackets and bezel for the fog lights. It's a pretty easy install.
