This is the most effective DIY bumper tab repair I could find on KZread without having to buy expensive tools. I used an old, rather thick metal screen as my mesh, but your tape looks MUCH easier to use.

Thanks for sharing the video. Your method was pretty innovative and ingenuous and addition of the meshed tape to the equation definitely helped. It stabilized the plastic piece you tried to attach to the bumper, freed your other hand and made the area you tried to fix more accessible for using the soldering iron (to tack the plastic piece you made).

Thank you for creating this video. I came upon it by accident and it just happens that while I was washing my roommates Honda, I noticed that the bumper wasn’t properly attached. Upon further inspection, I saw that the tab was cracked. I am a 62 year young woman who has been doing things that I have never done before with the help of KZread! I am in the process of learning the fine art of using compounds, polishes and wax for color correction. This whole deal started while I was washing the 86 Honda to get the dirt off the windows. I was going to borrow it while my car was in the shop. The roof of the car was bleached white. I took a magic eraser to it and found out that wasn’t the paint that was bleached out but the peeling clear coat. Well 3 days later, I got it all off. I learn new things everyday. Maybe today you all learned something from me. If I can do it, you can too. Get comfortable reaching outside your comfort zone. ❤

I have just one criticism... sorry. Bumpers are typically made from thermoplastics such as polycarbonate, ABS, PBT, polypropylene or a combination of a couple, e.g. PC/ABS or PC/PBT alloys. A coffee cup lid is typically made from polypropylene or polystyrene. For the longest lasting bond, you should always look for the little recycle symbol printed somewhere on the inside of the bumper. It will have a number within the symbol, like a 4 or 5, and sometimes state below it the plastic... PC/PBT for instance. This is for recycling purposes, but also tells you what type of plastic your bumper is. The numbers represent a plastic, but usually if it's an alloy, it will have a number 7. I've fixed motorcycle fairings and had to order plastic alloy welding rods of exactly the same material, as this will provide the best strength, longest lasting bond. It could be that you got lucky and used a polypropylene lid on a polypropylene bumper. Good job anyway, but that is my only advice. Hope it is helpful.

Hi just came across your video I had the same problem on the same car and on the same side a while ago I used the super glue and baking soda fix,It worked really good, I found that taking the wheel off and drilling up the hole was in the perfect spot, The way you repaired looked as if it worked real good so two ways to repair Fit bumper. Thanks
