    It works perfect. Please Read. I had a hard drive with 5 operating systems, Win 7, 8.1, Vista Ult, XP Pro, and XP Media Cent in a DEll 5150 Intel who's motherboard died a few days earlier. All files on the drive were still there. I had a Compaq Presario AMD to experiment with. My searching on how to install an existing Windows installation onto a different motherboard led me to Acronis Universal Restore, which led me to AcronisTrueImage2017 NG iso. I wanted to restore the Vista Ult on the harddrive. With the harddrive in, the Acronis cd in, I booted to Acronis. It said Starting Acronis Loader, then within 10 seconds a screen with options popped up for a couple seconds then it went straight to my normal windows boot menu. I choose Vista Ult and it actually booted to my same desktop. There were a lot of found new hardware messages. I just let it do its thing. While this was going on I checked system properties, it was still activated. In the istalling device drivers popup there were at least 20 items installed requiring restart, this was within 5 minutes of the boot. I didn't know what to expect after I restarted, but it did restart to the Vista Ult I knew. It was still genuine. The only thing I had to get was the soundcard driver, which I did. It all works fine. The whole process was automatic, I just selected Vista Ult from my boot menu.I did not have no image to create, just the iso on the cd. Acronis worked perfect.

    Wow it worked using Acronis 2019 this time! I tried this years ago unsuccessfully and really needed to do this on an office pc I built to save hours of restoring apps/data. I created the boot media using the Linux selection, didn't add any drivers, inf's or sys files. Just did the basic build and restored my image onto a NVMe M.2 hard drive and all booted up!

    So for me, I was moving a HD from a dead computer, to a new computer. All I had to do was: 1. Create the bootable media from Acronis Universal Restore as shown in this video (left it on defaults) 2. Download my chipset drivers, and USB controller drivers to the same USB drive I put the Universal Restore on (AUR did ask me for these when I didn't have them on there, so I copied them to the drive). You may have to extract the files from the files, and even then you may have to move the appropriate files from the WIN10 or WIN7 folder to the USB root after the extract. 3. Boot from the USB drive 4. Select Universal Restore 5. Add my USB drive as a 'Automatic driver search' location (not sure if I had to do this -- probably not...) 6. Click OK and let the process do its thing After taking out my USB drive and rebooting, I was able to boot into my Windows drive (after crashing everytime on the windows logo before that). The video can be confusing as it seems to describe certain instances for the restore, but I know a lot of people will need it as I did.

    +Christian Gabriel C. Hi, download the driver-pack from ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/HP_Driverpack_Matrix_x64.html and extract it. You will get all the driver (include chipset) in one folder. (If it's an HP computer of course, otherwise use similar way on other brands). Almost all brands have this solution. If you still don't get the raw files you should be able to execute the exe-file and be able to unpack it through the process.

  • @Acronis

    It only installs the drivers you provide - the old drivers must be uninstalled manually once the OS boots. The only exception is if you restore a VM to physical hardware - in this case, all service related to VM (VMware Tools or HyperV Guest services) will be disabled, but still, you must uninstall them manually after first boot.

  • @Acronis

    @Acronis

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello @StrukiTru, this may occur when the content of the archive is not suitable for that type of recovery that is shown in the video. E.g. you're trying to recover the machine from the file-level backup. Or the backup you're trying to recover is not compatible with the version of bootable media you're using. E.g. you create the backup using Acronis True Image 2021, but using the bootable media of Acronis True Image 2018 to restore the backup (compatibility table - kb.acronis.com/content/1689). Lastly, the archive may become corrupted while being stored (e.g. bad blocks occurred on the storage drive) or while being copied to another media (network transmission failures) so it is also best to validate it to exclude this as a possible cause. If all of the above rules out as a possible reason in your case - please work with our Support team towards further investigation (kb.acronis.com/content/8153).

    This sounds pretty flaky. In the past, I've physically moved Windows C-Drives to different machines and it always has worked. Windows has gotten pretty robust. In this case, I'm going to a different type of drive so I have to do it "non-physically." I'm going to make an image of my new PC's C-drive, make an image of my old PC's C-drive, and then restore my old PC's C-drive image onto my new PC's C-drive. If it doesn't work, then I'll restore the new PC's C-drive and put all the old programs in one-by-one. That would be safer and easier. And before restoring the image, I'll make screen caps of all the new PC's settings so I can re-set the ones that seem more appropriate to the new PC.
