I don't mess with those kits anymore. What I always run into is worn out shafts. I just ordered a whole carb off of ebay for $13.54, free shipping. Chinese made but so much easier and they work great. Still a thumbs up for your effort.

oh yeah I did the same thing but idle was never smooth and I finally tore them both down and compared them and for the most part they are identical except the main jet (emulsion tube) had less holes on the new one and they were smaller so what happens is you have less air being mixed with the fuel. You can't buy just that part so I went to the college machine tool instructor and for $25 they made me some I only needed two but got 7 for that price. Defiantly made a difference at idle.

@@silentdeath9237 I never noticed that because it was on an 8 hp. craftsman on a chipper shredder so an idle wasn't that important.

Forgot to mention, put locktite on new bushing and gently press it in with a socket in a vise or use a c clamp. Make sure it seats in all the way and square to prevent shaft bind. Put shaft in, to make sure it freely turns then take it back out over night so you don't accidentally lock it in place.

If its in bad condition, replace it. If not, its fine. Mine had a very thick hard gasket on it so I was able to re use it. Just make sure the engine and carb surfaces are clean before reinstalling!

Soak it in chem dip and blow it out really well with the main fuel mixture adjustment screw removed. I've had several that were stuck/stripped and they ran fine without being removed.

the inside channel the carb fits onto is quite pitted/dirty. Should this area be sanded down at all or cleaner used? I'm a bit leary of getting dirt/debris into the inner part of the engine by using anything sanding wise.....thoughts?

That stuff isn't strong enough to eat through the tar in mine I've tried alot of shit on mine nothing wants to dissolve the tar that's in any turns or elbows of the old carburetor I believe my 110 would stay running with a new carburetor one i bought last year for it didn't work good so took it off and put the original carburetor back on mines not getting no gas in the carburetor it does run for a few seconds after i blow gas into the carburetor I'm done with that old carburetor and the metal gas tank needs a new nipple at the bottom of it

Not a carter carb. It is a chinaclone and most need modification to connect your cables. I also notice there is no quality control. Some are good others are not. You get what you pay for. isavetractors.com has quality ones.

@@Mike-su8si You have to remove the main jet and clean it. Hard to do if you are not familiar with them. They are brass and strip easily. The screwdriver you use must be as wide as the whole. I grind down a cheap one to fit.

Not hating on your video, but you didn't address the most important issue with these carbs. You really should replace the brass throttle shaft bushing while you have it out. This will make the rebuild a little more tricky but it is MORE IMPORTANT than people think. Get the bushing, new screws, and new throttle shaft. The screws like to break so just grind off the heads with a dremel tool and cut shaft. Put in new shaft, use new screws, with locktite in old throttle plate. Then rebuild rest of carb! That area is a wear point that can leak a lot of dirty air around shaft causing a lean fuel condition, hotter running engine, burnt valves, and #1 cause of warped heads! Don't think yours (reader) needs this done? Put your mouth over top of carb. and blow, you might be surprised.
