I have ANC’s. Mine seem to prefer the peat moss over the paper but do well enough in the paper. They get a fine layer of cottonwood leaves on top. They eat the worm chow but it is clearly not a favorite. Fruit good video. Thanks.

You're the best Grant! One year later - Multiple worm beds now and surely appreciate all your videos and advice:) Questions now: I need to re-do my worm bins but: (1) How do I separate the wet castings from the worms? (2) If I put the castings in my garden beds, won't there be eggs in the castings that will start raising in my garden beds?

I have a set of sifters that I use and I still miss worms and cocoons. I use the castings to start my seeds. When I go to transfer them in the ground I always find worms. Horizontal migration works for the most part. I've watched videos of people using piles and lights to send the worms down. I like using a bait cup the most.
@Austin-ub2gi
Жыл бұрын
I like to get a long tray and put what I want to harvest in that, and put some fruit on one side to migrate them, then you can sift it, and let it sit for about a week or two to let the cocoons hatch which then you can migrate them one more time if you want, it's a lot of work but that Is the only assured way to do it as of now.

Okay, looks like you're raising them in tote containers. Some videos say these worms do not do well in containers. Advice? Mine are getting shipped and I don't want to screw this up. Also, that's the best, cheapest shredder you've found. Keep up the good work teaching us:)
@GrantMcIntosh

I've had them do pretty good in the mortar trays. ANC's like to escape so the CFT bag systems are nice because they can't escape. A lid or bubble wrap helps keep them in. Hopefully you have some bedding set up for them. If not do that as soon as possible. I have the Amazon basics 28 sheet shredder. It's the best for the price, that I found.
