How To Quiet Quit Like a Pro

Ойын-сауық

Quiet quitting has become a hugely controversial debate
over the last year or two especially, but I really don't think it should be.
And here's why.
So very quickly, what is "quiet quitting"? It sounds kind of bad.
Despite the name, quiet quitting is not quitting, or anything even close.
It just refers to the practice of only doing what you're paid to do.
It's no where near as evil or dark as it sounds.
In fact, I think a more appropriate name for it would be "matching the job description".
If you want to find out how to quiet quit like a pro,
keep watching because I'll explain exactly what to do.
Now if you get fired after watching this
a) that's not my responsibility and
b) your employer probably sucks anyway.
All you need to do is use this handy flow chart I've lovingly made.
Whenever you're in doubt, just pull this up and you'll have the
answer in no time,
I'll give you an example.
Let's pretend you're an office worker called Bob.
You're paid from 9 until 5 to make orders to suppliers.
Hey Bob, I know it's 4:59PM but I really need you to
do Mike's orders because he messed them up, can you do that for me?
Now let's assume you aren't paid overtime, and it's going to take
at least 3 hours to get through.
that's an easy one.
so that's no, and no.
"Hey Michelle, I'd love to but I finish at 5 today, just like every other
day, so as much as that sounds great, I'm going to politely decline".
There we go, nailed it.
You're right on track to becoming a full time quiet quitter.
Let's do one more example, just to make sure
we're got the fundamentals in place.
"Hey Bob, I've got this really interesting opportunity
for you, you get to become a lead order making person
thingy."
This is a little more tricky.
It sounds like a great opportunity,
but we're going to need to find out a little more about
the role before jumping head first.
Remember, at the moment we don't know if they
are compensating you for the additional responsibility.
It sounds like a promotion, but you can't be sure just yet.
"Wow, that sounds great Michelle, thanks for letting me know.
Presumably this means I'll be moving up a salary band if I take
this on, right?"
Michelle then proceeds to explain to you how it's just a temporary position
until they hire someone new to fill the role, but you'll be compensated in
the form of experience instead.

Good one, on the point of half quiet quitting, make sure you don't get into something I call "The Dilligent Student Effect". It is something where you go 110% all the time, and it becomes your new standard, and such when you do your usuall 100%, people's expectation on you cause them to perceive you to be lacking. Meanwhile, your peer who always done things half-assedly go 110%, people around them willl commend them for their extra effort while overlooking your extra effort as an obvious daily thing.

Quiet quitting is just a term for the trend of employees beginning to resist their exploitation tactics. Instead of quiet quitting, call it "acting your wage".

One subtle way of getting a small but regular additional dose of work is the hour long lunch break where everyone else takes considerably less. Go for a walk, feed the ducks or just find a quiet spot and meditate. Not every day, but mostly.

The reverse could with wonders for your career. If you are not interested in that sort of thing, then quiet quitting may advance your interest.
