    I can't thank you enough. After shoulder surgery last week, I have been trying to learn how to do things with one arm. Wish I had known about this channel earlier. I asked my husband to tie my hair and i gave up. Use claw clip? He would clip his fingers to my hair. I have been watching all of your videos related to shoulder surgery. I have to say putting up hair with one hand is the most difficult task.

    Thankyou! For years I've hadto either ask the hairdresser, or have ponytail at side, which I hate! Just ordered some small bands, can't wait to try this out!

    The shoe lace idea is great. I'm going to order it. I have coarse thick hair and I have been looking like a witch lately. Hope it works

    I also feel like I've been looking like a witch with my long wavy hair! I am 2 1/2 weeks post rotator cuff repair surgery. I had to go back to work… And ironically I'm an occupational therapist. L O L. I don't have a ton of experience though with teaching one hand techniques and I have enjoyed these videos also to help me with one-handed techniques. And praise God for the dictation feature on my MacBook Pro! I am able to type now however it's so much easier to use dictate so that I don't strain my right/recovering shoulder!

    Thank you for this! And personally, it is perfectly timed. I’m an OT grad student and have been working with someone recovering from a stroke with weakness and coordination deficits on one side. She really values being able to put her hair into a ponytail, so we’ve been working on a few ways to do this. Your first way here is a new one. Will try!

    I just can’t thank you enough for your videos…I’ve been watching them for the last few weeks. My shoulder replacement is scheduled on Jan 2. I have been practicing what you have taught, purchased several of the items you have suggested. I live alone and it’s important to me to be as independent and safe as possible. When my other arm was broken and in a sling several years ago, I purchased leather cord with a spring loaded lock…it stayed in place too but probably not as good as the small hair band. My hair is shoulder length and I plan on using headbands.

    I have full thickness tears of the infraspinatus and supraspinatus tendons in my non dominant arm (seeing the surgeon next week), so I have very poor rom in that arm. But I’ve also had a reverse replacement on my dominant side, and I have difficulty getting my arm over my head. I have hair about your length-I’m thinking maybe I better teach my husband how to put my hair in a ponytail.

    How do you keep the rubber band from sliding up your hand when reaching back to grab your hair? It keeps slipping and moving up my hand to where I can’t get it around my hair 😢

    Any suggestions for putting rollers in hair (yes, I still use a few rollers for top and sides). A brush and hair dryer absolutely doesn't work for me. Just want to get a few rollers in hair with one hand/arm. I have a pixy cut but need height on top.

    What length laces would you recommend?

  • @EquipMeOT

    @EquipMeOT

    I used a standard elastic lace kit but ended up cutting them down a few inches. The length is based on how far you have to be from the hook while setting it up.

    Ugh the one time I wish I had shorter, thinner hair but mine is to my waist and really really thick. I can’t fit it all in one hand even when I could use both my hands. I don’t know what to do with use of only my non dominant hand 😩 I hate having all my hair down!

  • @NancyBoudon-nb8jw
    @NancyBoudon-nb8jw2 ай бұрын

    I know it depends on your hair length, thickness, etc.....but please somebody let me know what size shoestring you used. I have long, very thick, coarse hair and am currently trying this method with a 72" shoestring, without success. The shoestring doesn't "pick up" my hair from underneath like it shows in the video, and when i slide the toggle down, it never really gets tight - instead the whole shoestring thing just kind of slides down, instead ofvataying close to my head like Lindsey's does. Any advise would be appreciated. I just had rotator cuff surgery & it looks like I'll be doing my hair one-handed for awhile.
