I have had 3 rotator cuff surgeries that last one Dec.2023, my Sling came from the Surgeon with a Removable foam pad Under my fore arm. Also your sling Should have a Strap that goes around your waist keeping arm from moving forward or back, and of course another strap Over your shoulder, this will keep arm from moving in your sleep and causing Great Pain... I also Highly recommend sleeping in a Recliner which I'm still doing, this Keeps you from rolling over on shoulder...

Hi Lindsey, great videos. I live alone, and so I don't have an extra pair of hands to help with positioning. In preparing for reverse total shoulder surgery, I placed a velour covered body pillow under a fitted flannel bottom sheet on my operative side. The friction of the two fabrics prevented the body pillow from sliding. It has been great support for my arm. Hope this helps. Thanks for all your videos.

I recently found out I have a massive rotator cuff tear and bicep. I'm on a 6 month waiting list a total shoulder replacement. I have had both knees and my right hip replaced in 2011 and 2012. I haven't had an MRI of my left shoulder yet, but I am pretty sure it needs to be replaced. I went on Amazon and bought a tie dye tube top dress to wear after my tsr. I plan to get a few more to have to wear after surgery to go out. I don't want to mess with sleeves. It will be summer time when I have my tsr and I will be totally ready, thanks to KZread. Thank you so much.

When I had rotator cuff surgery I found the pillows shifted and moved after I fell asleep. The wedges are also narrow and if I moved after falling asleep I was on the edge. I don't see why a foam setup hasn't been devised that has some stability for sleeping and supporting the shoulder. Medicare does not cover home health care for shoulder surgery. It is very tough if you live alone.

This was a very informative video, thank you so much. I am three weeks post surgery and have just been sleeping on my couch sitting up pretty much. I bought a recliner, but I just couldn't get comfortable sleeping on it. The biggest issue I am facing is that I wake up so stiff sleeping on the couch. My biggest worry is that I have damaged my repair, can you tell me what would be the signs if I had damaged the surgical site and repair? I am going to try these tips and see if I can get some sleep in my bed. Thank you again.

It’s unlikely you’ve impacted your surgical repair. If you have excruciating sharp pain at the surgical site then seek attention. Stiffness is very normal with shoulder surgery. I hope you are able to find a comfortable position for sleep soon 🙏🏻

I had 5 surgical repairs in 2018 on my left shoulder; including rotator cuff & bicep tendon. A little bit to much excitement with my grandblessings left me w/torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders. I put off surgery. No I'm bone on bone on my left shoulder & need both rotator cuff repair & total replacement. I wish I had not waited, I don't think I'd be in the pain or surgical situation I'm in now. I bought a U shaped pregnancy pillow for this surgery. Sleeping was impossible last time; in the bed or recliner. The bed ladder is definitely something I'm ordering right now. I have a huge issue getting up since it's both shoulders. I did also get an automatic bed frame that raises my head or foot sections. But honestly, that doesn't help.

TSA in 10 days on prominent arm. (Had same on other shoulder 2 1/2 years ago). The wedge I borrowed from my mom for the first surgery wasn't very wide and I kept slipping down. Putting pillows under my knees helped. I am going to get my own wedge pillow with memory foam this time. I am usually a side sleeper, but with leg and lumbar support can sleep on my back for the first month. My question is, how high do you recommend the pillow? I see 7.5", 10" and 12 ". It's actually more about the angle, right? I don't want to be sliding down the wedge.

June 15th I'm scheduled to get a total shoulder replacement. I'm thankful this video came across my suggestions. The doctor will be placing an entire new ball and socket, I think he will be placing a metal plate where I lost so much cartilage. Thank you for this very informative video.

I just had a total Sholder Replacement, I guess if you're 30yrs Old, Have a "Extra Pair of Hand's" , This video is the bomb Diggity!!! However This Government issued POS Sling Digs into My Neck & My injured arm is literally Dangling causing MORE pain & Doesn't work properly PERIOD. So I suppose I'm supposed to have a Nice New Couch, Then jump into a Extra expensive Recliner. It That doesn't WORK well just get on The " Link ' & They'll Set you right Up with a "Wedge, pillows, a Nice Slender Sling. Again with 4 Hand's is so Easy & you'll be Off to a Perfect at Home recovery. Please I can't afford to Live, for Ripping My body Apart to Put clothes on our Back 😩

My second RCS coming up soon. I tried picking up my heavy purse in my back floorboard behind my console in my truck. My Dr told me 3 months to heal. It took me a good year. Then I hurt it again. Feels like my RCS arm is shorter than my other one. I’m ordering several different types of arm slings to try on before surgery. The ones they gave me in Dr office was too big. The one they gave me at hospital was too big. I’m short waisted. From my shoulder to waist is shorter than normal. I’m retired now and full time RVing so I don’t have a lazy boy and I’m here to get good ideas to turn my bed into a lazy boy position. My mom gave me a great idea last surgery to put 50% rubbing alcohol and 50% water in double ziplock bags and she made me some soft thin cotton like material covers for the ice packs and that was a life saver. I’ve already had the surgery so I know it’s a bad recovery. Get somebody to be with you for two weeks to wash dishes and cook. I’m making frozen dinners. Door Dash. Can’t think of everything but you really need to try. Good luck to all of you having this surgery. I also recommend finding a movie series to watch on Hulu or Netflix. That will help keep your mind off of the pain. And you can rewind when you fall asleep. Get up as much as possible and do your exercises. Medicate really good first. Put ice on after. Don’t do any physical activity and have a pain break through. And don’t overdo your exercises because you can’t feel the pain on the medicine. I would set my timer to remind me to get up and exercise my shoulder and arm. Buy you a bowel like hospitals have that’s curved and learn to brush your teeth in bed is what I did. You don’t need a toothache to go along with the pain from surgery. Get everything in arms reach. Watch your steps too. I couldn’t see the steps because of my arm sling and busted my tail but thank God I didn’t hurt my shoulder. Good luck. It will get better. Time will fly after the first week. ❤

I'm 2 weeks out of a total shoulder replacement and wish I was in the type of sling you are wearing in the video. I am stuck sleeping in my recliner, and the sling/brace I have to wear won't allow me to sleep in any other position. 11 months ago, I went through shoulder reconstruction surgery but with no great help. Your video has some great tips for ones in a soft sling, though. Great video!

I used a BREG Kodiak cold wrap (beer cooler thingy) that circulates cold water throughout the wrap, you can change the ice (frozen water bottle - 16 oz) when they thaw out without disturbing the injury site / patient's rest. A LIFE SAVER. 4 years later I am now going in for my other arm and have even loaned it out to friends who had the same surgery and they loved it too. Cold pack therapy reduces the post surgery inflammation and helps get you off the pain meds quicker.

Humerus fracture surgery for me. I was miserable for so long. Think about sitting up in bed, forward because your arm is throbbing. But you're already exhausted from days on end lack of sleep. It took forever to finally get over that period. I am still in recovery but can sleep on back and roll to non surgical side for brief periods. I am just starting to tolerate briefly rolling on surgical side. It's now three months since my injury

Hello, I stumbled over this on my KZread page as I will be undergoing a 4 inch torn rotator cuff surgery of my right shoulder in November. I also have a physical disability which is Cerebral Palsy. I have found some of your videos VERY helpful & have also bought some of the stuff you've recommended! I am also a new subscriber to your channel. I was wondering if you could possibly do any videos that pertain to someone that has a physical disability (both lower leg extremity weakness, trouble getting in & out of bed (my bedsheets get caught on both of my feet while trying to get out of bed) etc., while also in a arm sling?) I am left handed so my dominant arm won't be operated on. My right shoulder will be the operative side. I have been practicing religiously doing things one handed BEFORE my upcoming surgery in November. My bedroom will soon look like a Medical room with all these new medical devices coming in soon to help me recover just from a shoulder surgery LOL! I also won't have my Caregiver with me all the time as I will be sometimes left home alone during my recovery time. But for the most part, I will be having a lot of help during the first part of recovery. Thank you for all you do and I am loving your channel as it is VERY helpful to me. So a BIG THANK YOU to you ;)
