Glad I came across this video five years after it was uploaded. I've never had to experience a situation like this, but for one of my assignments at school I had to write an essay on how first aid would be applied to a shoulder dislocation in a certain scenario, then act it out in a little skit. THIS was what I needed for the acting part. Now I understand how to support the arm correctly. Thank you!!

Just had a shoulder arthoscopy for labrel repair and loose body removal. Watching this the morning after a nearly restless night. I have a recliner, but i can't operate the foot rest. I had to resort to using my coffee table as a foot rest. It's fine at first, but it puts pressure on the knees which is really uncomfortable after a while. Going to try the side sleep method tonight, as im more of a side sleeper anyway.

Just get plenty of pillows to put under the fist of the affected side. Also, if you try the recliner again with the coffee table, place pillows under your knees so they don't bow backwards. Best of luck with your recovery.

And generally in a lot of pain from trying to do so. It's sort of like walking in my sleep so how do I keep from tearing loose things in my shoulder while it's healing when subconsciously I'm struggling to get out of it, the sling that is.
